Cheers to all who took to their wheels and rolled in to the Pacific Pride Festival yesterday at sunny Chase Palm Park, and who joined in the Drag Me to Pride Ride to get there! Here's a fun family of bikes parked and watched by our wonderful MOVE Bike Valet volunteers, a small sample of the nearly 100 happy festivalgoer bikes we kept secure. Thanks to all our volunteers (we couldn’t do it without you), the Pacific Pride Foundation for having us, and to the City of Santa Barbara's Sustainability & Resilience Division for providing free BCycle ride passes for Drag Me to Pride Riders!

About Linda:
Meet Dr. Linda, PhD., but her friends just call her...Linda. While she may not be a real woman, she is a real doctor as she has a PhD from UCSB in Quantitative Biology. In addition to being a genius, she is also the host of the monthly drag show BARBARA at EOS lounge every second Friday, follow for more information, and is one of the co-founders and former president of UC Santa Barbara's Drag Club ( ). She is positively honored to be the queen of honor for this inaugural event as it combines her favorite things: sitting down, looking gorgeous and starting new q***r traditions in her local community.

Join us as we kick off the Pride festivities with a community bike ride and then come see Linda slay the stage at the Pacific Pride Festival at 2pm! Can't wait to see y'all and happy Pride!

Who is getting hurt? By device

The data offers some needed perspective.

Electric bicycles accounted for 1% of California emergency room patients treated for transportation-related injuries in 2023. Motor vehicles accounted for 62%.

Public policy should respond to evidence, clearly distinguish among devices, and focus attention where the greatest harm is occurring.

Explore the data in the California Independent Electric Mobility Council report. Download it at CalBike.org/ciemc

Thank you, California Bicycle Coalition, for this feature.

In a recent op-ed for the Santa Barbara Independent, MOVE Santa Barbara County’s executive director makes the case that e-bikes aren’t the threat to our community and lays out what real safety looks like: education over punishment, strict regulations for e-moto / imposter bikes, and complete streets designed for users of all modes.
