Hi Everyone- SBBC Volunteers needed !!
Santa Barbara Bicycle Club past Board Member and long time club sponsor Jake Clinton will be running his final
Pier to Peak race on Sunday, September 3rd
before handing the reins off to Jay Campbell of Nite Moves.

We want SBBC club members to support this event by providing traffic control from Stearns Wharf to the base of Gibraltar. It's an early morning (6:10 at the Dolphin Fountain), but this is a very fun adventure. There will be food and goodies at the top, and many club members will continue across E Camino Cielo and down Painted Cave / OSM afterwards.

Again, meet at 6:10 A.M. at the Dolphin Fountain: Instructions directly to those there.

If you don't go up Gibraltar with the runners you can expect your volunteer effort to be over by 8am. Plenty of time to meet the Underworlds or Worlds ride later !!

Yesterday members of the Santa Barbara Bicycle Club spent a couple of hours cleaning, removing mud and cutting encroaching vegetation along the Ortega Hill bike path !! Hope that makes your ride a little better !!

Bicycle Safety Enforcement Operations Planned for Santa Barbara

The Santa Barbara Police Department will conduct bicycle safety enforcement operations on September 26, 2016 with focused enforcement on collision-causing factors involving motorists and bicycle riders. Special patrols will be deployed to concentrate on drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians who violate traffic laws meant to protect all roadway users.

The department has conducted analysis of the locations where bicycle involved collisions have occurred, and the violations that led to those crashes, over the past 3 years. Officers will be looking for violations made by drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians alike that can lead to life changing injuries.

Santa Barbara Bicycle Club will once again host the Barney Berglund Memorial Bike Ride for 2016. The 50 mile Ride will be held October 2nd starting at 8:30am. This Ride is part of the 5th Annual Grape Stomp, a fund raiser for the Anacapa School. There is also a 10 mile Family Fun Ride.

Start and end location for the Ride and Grape stomp is:
Fess Parker Winery 6200 Foxen Canyon Road Los Olivos, CA

Tickets, which include both Ride and Stomp, are $65.00 advance or $75.00 at the door. $35.00 for Designated Drivers and Kids (age 6-20). Advance ticket can be purchased at:

Barney Berglund was a huge supported of the Anacapa School and we are glad to honor his name by continued support of this fine school.

Following the Memorial Bike ride is the 5th Annual Grape Stomp, which features an actual grape stomp, a great BBQ and Fess Parker Wines. 12:00pm tp 3:00pm at Fess Parker Winery.
