Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County LAFSBC is a non-profit law firm that provides free legal assistance to Santa Barbara County residents.

The Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate attorney who will thrive in a nonprofit law firm and is committed to serving low-income clients.

As part of our housing team, you’ll work alongside other attorneys to advise and represent low-income families, people with disabilities, and senior tenants in eviction defense, landlord-tenant matters, fair housing, and more.

The Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County is looking for a bilingual (English/Spanish) Legal Assistant to join our Santa Barbara Legal Resource Center.

This part-time, in-person position is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about serving the community and helping individuals navigate the civil legal system. Working under the supervision of a licensed attorney, you'll assist self-represented litigants, provide interpretation services, help prepare court forms, and support access to justice for those who need it most.

Position Details:
📍 Santa Barbara Legal Resource Center (Santa Barbara Courthouse)
⏰ 12–15 hours per week (morning hours preferred)
💲 $24–$30/hour, depending on experience
🌐 Bilingual English/Spanish required

In a partnership with the Colleges of Law and the Association of Corporate Counsel of Southern California, the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County is offering a FREE Estate Planning Pro Bono Workshop, where volunteer attorneys will provide assistance with estate planning documents, including powers of attorney and advance healthcare directives.

We honor the resilience of older adults in our community and recognize many face challenges related to financial exploitation, housing instability, and safety.

At the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County, we support seniors through these moments by providing legal help with financial scams, housing concerns, and protection from abuse and exploitation. Because no one should have to navigate aging alone.

What to do if you or someone you know is targeted by a scam:
• Pause before taking action or sending money
• Do not share personal or financial information
• Contact a trusted family member, bank, or legal services provider
• Report suspicious activity and seek help early
