Antique lamps of ivory, jade, and lapis lazuli. Nancy Sanchez of Santa Barbara Lamp shades restored and rewired them so they can be switched on and used as they were meant to be. Her work is an illuminating lesson in what careful conservation can do. #

In collaboration with UCSB Affiliates and our generous sponsor, Margerum W**e Company, Bellosguardo was thrilled to host a talk by UCSB Professor John W.l. Lee. W**e played a key role in the cultural interactions between the empire of Achaemenid Persia and the city-states of ancient Greece. In his talk, Professor John W. I. Lee of the UCSB History Department used ancient literature, cuneitorm documents, art, and archaeology to explore the ideals and practices of Greek and Persian w**e drinking.
