Not from St. Nick. Not from folklore. Not from any of the stories we’ve been handed.

Victoria Siegel ( ) went looking for the answer after her son was born and ended up somewhere unexpected: shamanic traditions, plant medicine history, and earth-based practices that predate the holiday stories we all grew up with by thousands of years. 🍄🔥

At last week’s District House, she shared what she found, and it reframes everything you think you know about the symbols hiding in plain sight inside our most familiar traditions. 🌿✨

🎄 Why does Santa come down the chimney? Why do we blow out candles on a birthday cake?

Victoria Siegel ( ) asked those questions after her son was born and ended up in a rabbit hole spanning archaeology, linguistics, comparative religion, and cultures separated by thousands of miles, all pointing to the same symbols and seasonal rhythms.

At last week’s District House, she laid it all out the way an engineer would: follow the patterns, trace the connections, don’t stop asking questions. What she found points to something much older and more universal than any single tradition or belief system. The roots of our holidays go deeper than most of us have been told. 🌱🔥

Hannah Jo ( ) joined her in conversation after, and Victoria’s husband even came up to the stage to share in it. It was exactly the kind of night that reminds us why we gather like this. 🙏

The room left not with answers, but with a new relationship to the questions. And sometimes that’s the whole point. 🍄✨

🎵 Kat’s Meow ( ) closed the night and we are still feeling it.

When Kat took the stage the dance floor took a level up. Michael Strauss ( ) painted the walls with hypnotic, otherworldly projections that made the whole area feel like another dimension. Elemental Arts ( ) had fire spinning and LED glow toys lighting up the night sky. And the Santa Barbara Bubble Guy ( ) floated thousands of bubbles through the crowd catching every color and every light. 🫧🔥✨

All of it perfectly in sync with a set that made you forget what time it was, what may be worrying you, what you were even thinking about before you walked in the door.

This is what a District216 Marquee Event feels like with full community connection.

The first set of the night hit with live synth energy that pulled everyone onto the floor and set the tone for the rest of the evening. If you know, you know.

A huge shout out to Michael Strauss for creating a psychedelic visual wonderland.

Then took it to another dimension with fite and LED glow toys.
And shoutout to the Santa Barbara Bubble Guy for making the space feel like a dream. 🫧🔥

Lying on a mat, eyes closed, sound moving through your whole body.

That was tonight at District216. Leo ( ) guided us through an hour of pure sonic immersion, wireless headphones on, sub bass humming underneath, music doing what words can’t.

Just listening, breathing, and feeling what comes up. This is the medicine.
