Before he jumped, he called it in.

The bear. The wide reach of the natural world. The ancestors standing behind every shaman who came before him. Watch Shaman Usher summon that energy in real ceremony, then step off his chair and land barefoot in a bed of broken glass, protected by everything he just called into the room.

This is shamanic energy as Abhay Oyun (known as Shaman Usher as his given name) practices it: raw, physical, and ancestral. Direct contact with forces most of us only read about, brought into a room full of District216 members who felt every second of it.

Even through a screen, that energy travels. Imagine standing in the room with him.

Full interview will soon be live in the District216 app.

“Is ketamine addictive?”

That question has shown up after our fireside chat “The Dark Side of Ketamine” during our Addiction & Psychedelics Marquee Event last May. Turns out the title did more work than intended, and we owe the community some clarity.

There’s a real difference between someone taking ketamine recreationally, day after day, chasing a feeling, and someone sitting in a clinical container such as Lucid Therapeutics, receiving a low, intentional dose designed to open a therapeutic window, with integration support.

Jacob Tell (Jacob Tell ) our Chief Dreamer and Dr. Remi Drozd (Remi Drozd ) sat down together. Dr. Remi is with Lucid Therapeutics (Lucid Therapeutics ), District216’s very first Business Member, and Dr. Remi was also the very first event we ever hosted in 2022 (a lecture on Ketamine 101, available in our online app). To hear this distinction described from someone who does this work daily is the perfect way to frame this discussion.

Along with the distinction between recreational and therapeutic ketamine use, Dr. Remi breaks down how ketamine stacks up against other medicines in duration of relief. For example, a mushroom journey might carry someone for months whereas Ketamine may give days or weeks. That’s not a knock against it. It comes down to the plan around the medicine: the intention, the facilitator, the integration work, and the safety of the container you’re in.

District216 aims to hold space for community conversations with varied perspectives.  We would love to hear from you!

Your brain has one job: keep you safe. Small, comfortable, unseen. It’s not malicious, it’s just doing what brains have always done. But safe and small get confused for the same thing, and a lot of us end up living constricted, withdrawn, folded inward, mistaking that for stability.

In this clip, Dr. Michael Hofrath (Michael George Hofrath ) names the brain for what it can be in this context: the liar. The one that denies, rationalizes, keeps you convincingly stuck. Not out of malice, out of habit.

The body tells a different story. Drop into the psyche, the soma, and you find something the brain doesn’t have access to: intuition. Truth. Our actual nature isn’t constriction, it’s expansion. We’re built to open up, to grow into whatever we actually are, not shrink to fit what feels safe.

This is one of the real shifts ketamine-assisted therapy can offer. Not an escape from the brain, but a way down and out of it. Out of the loop of denial and rationalization, and into the heart, where compassion and intuition and truth actually live.

Time to move back into the soul.

Your mind is not you. It’s a survivor.

In this clip, Dr. Elyas Parsa (Elyas Parsa ) traces a thought pattern all the way back to a cave and a saber-toothed tiger, and the ancestor who ran. That fear response, that conditioning, it’s still running the show for a lot of us. Except now it shows up as anxiety about an email instead of a predator.

None of our thinking is original. It’s inherited. Family, zip code, what we ate as kids, what we were taught to fear or chase. And somewhere along the way we stop noticing the conditioning and start speaking it as identity. “I am this way.” As if it were fixed, and as if it were us.

Elyas offers something simpler and harder: create a separation between thought, emotion, and you. The mind is loud. It’s been trained to be loud, for good evolutionary reason. But the soul doesn’t yell. It whispers consistently, quietly, underneath all that noise.

This is the work. Not silencing the mind, but learning which voice is actually yours.

🔥 TRIGGERS ARE INFORMATION, NOT PROBLEMS 🔥

From our recent workshop, Healing the Sacred Masculine with Dr. Kathy Gruver (Dr Kathy Gruver ) 💜

We’re taught to avoid our triggers. Here’s the reframe: they’re actually a map.

When something triggers you it’s your nervous system pointing straight at what needs attention.

The work isn’t to avoid being triggered, but to build the tools to move through it when you are, checking in with what’s actually happening in the body, naming the emotion, finding where it lives.

That’s how triggers become growth instead of just reaction. In yourself, and in your relationships.

Where do you feel it in your body when you’re triggered? Tell us below 👇

Harm reduction isn’t optional. 🚨

Courtney Close (Hummingbird Church ) and Suzi Kalypso (Suzi Kalypso ) shared a hard and necessary story about someone who died because the people around them were more afraid of law enforcement than they were of losing a life. All that was needed was an IV of electrolytes.

That’s the cost of fear-based facilitation.

A real church, a real ceremony space, calls 911 first. Every time. No hesitation, no calculation about legal risk over a human life.

Trust is built in these moments. 🙏

Watch the clip. This is the conversation the psychedelics community needs to be having. 👇

She once showed up to a ceremony and was told she had to wear all white. No reason given. Just… the rule.

That’s not what we’re about. 💫

No uniforms. No arbitrary hoops. No cult vibes required to sit in circle. Be your authentic self.

Come as you are. That’s the whole invitation. 🙌

Watch the clip and tell us, have you ever felt pressure to “perform” spirituality instead of just living it? 👇
