AEP Channel Counties Chapter The Association of Environmental Professionals Channel Counties Chapter serves San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties.

Our mission is to enhance, maintain and protect the quality of natural and human environments. The California Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP) was founded in 1974 as non-profit association of public and private sector professionals with a common interest in serving the principles underlying the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The purpose is to establish and operate a p

Nominations will be accepted until March 16. You can nominate yourself or a colleague!

President: Conducts the overall management of the Chapter, facilitates Board meetings, represents the Chapter acts as liaison to other professional organizations, coordinates program/financial/other administrative efforts of the Chapter.

Vice President: Coordinates Chapter programs (including speakers, reservations, advertising), and assists the Chapter President as required. The Vice President assumes the responsibilities of the president in their absence, and chairs the Program Committee.

Treasurer*: Keeps a complete record of Chapter finances, prepare quarterly and annual financial reports for the State Board, prepares the annual Chapter budget, collects and disburses funds, and maintains chapter accounts.

Communications Director: Prepares Chapter blog and submits content to the State Newsletter (Environmental Monitor). Oversees website and blog content, prepares social media postings, and coordinates email content with the Vice President.

Program Representatives for San Luis Obispo and Ventura Counties*: Serve on the Programs Committee and serve as a liaison between the membership of their respective County and the Board. Organize virtual and in person social and educational programs in their respective county.

Legislative Liaison*: Represents the Chapter at State Legislative Committee meetings and provides legislative updates to the Board and membership as needed.

Member at Large: *new position* Serves as a support role for the other elected officers of the Board and assist with various Chapter initiatives as needed and represent the interests of the general membership.

We are currently accepting applications for our brand-new community college scholarship program. Three $500 scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate students attending Cuesta College, Allan Hancock College, Santa Barbara City College, or Ventura College who are actively engaged in the pursuit of a career with an environmental emphasis. Applicants must be enrolled in classes at the time the scholarship application is due and the subsequent academic term in order to be eligible. Award criteria include level of financial need, overall GPA (no minimum requirement), content, flow, grammar and spelling of the personal essay, and demonstrated involvement in the environmental field. A copy of college transcripts (unofficial or official) and maximum two-page essay are required along with a completed application form. Application forms and submission instructions are available on our Chapter website. We encourage all eligible applicants to apply by this Friday at 5pm.

Join us next Thursday in Santa Barbara for a holiday party alongside APA!

Join us alongside AEP Channel Counties Chapter for our in-person Santa Barbara holiday party! We will have food and drinks as we toast to a great year and celebrate the holidays together.

APA and AEP members will get their first drink free. Please RSVP to Tess ([email protected]) or Travis ([email protected]) by December 6th so that we can account for an accurate head count. For everyone’s safety, we kindly ask that all attendees that join us are vaccinated.

Endangered Species Conservation Biologist - PNW: Lead the development of a conservation strategy for six species of native bumble bees in Washington State;l develop species fact sheets for federal land managers to identify, survey, and manage habitat for invertebrate species of conservation concern on public lands of the Pacific Northwest. Location: Portland, OR.

Endangered Species Conservation Biologist - Western Monarchs: Manage two western monarch community science projects: the Western Monarch Thanksgiving and New Year’s Counts and Western Monarch Milkweed Mapper; provide guidance to land managers and the public for maintaining and restoring monarch breeding habitat throughout their range in the West; conduct field-based overwintering habitat and monarch count surveys, and organize and deliver training events. Location: California

Endangered Species Conservation Advocate: Use evidence-based approach to advocate and inspire action for butterflies, bees, and other invertebrates; develop status reviews and petitions, prepare comments on federal, state and local actions, provide technical assistance to land managers and agency staff on invertebrate conservation, and inspire action using outreach and education. Location: Sacramento, CA, or Portland, OR.

Membership Assistant: provide support to Xerces members and donors, and to the membership team at Xerces; directly help members and donors with the complete donation process, with maintaining their donor profile, and with questions about the organization, our work, and how to get involved. We love engaging with our donors and the Membership Assistant will play a key front-line role in stewarding this relationship. Location: Portland, OR.
