While homeownership rates for Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) are higher than some other minority groups, disparities still exist. Many AAPI households face language barriers, credit access challenges, and rising housing costs in major cities. The AAPI homeownership rate is 63.6%, compared to 74.4% for White households. Supporting inclusive lending programs ensures more AAPI families can achieve sustainable homeownership. (Source: U.S. Census Bureau, 2023. The Fair Housing Act was passed in 1968, yet discrimination in housing still exists. A 2022 study found that Black mortgage applicants are denied loans at an 84% higher rate than White applicants.
