Great events don’t happen by chance, they’re built with purpose and planning.

Last Friday, OneOC’s Nonprofit Learning Center welcomed Jordan Barrera, Director of Communications & Development at Higher Ground Youth & Family Services, for Planning & Pitfalls of Events.

Participants explored how to plan impactful fundraising events, avoid common pitfalls, strengthen supporter relationships and create memorable experiences that advance their organization’s mission.

💡 One key takeaway: Successful fundraising isn’t just about meeting financial goals. It’s about cultivating meaningful relationships that inspire long-term support and lasting connections with donors and the community.

The was proud to be part of the Orange County Grantmakers Annual Summit last Thursday, bringing together funders, nonprofit leaders, and community partners for a day centered on connection, learning, and collaboration.

This year’s theme, Action. Impact. Joy., was reflected throughout the day as leaders shared ideas, experiences, and perspectives on strengthening our nonprofit and philanthropic community.

We’re grateful to the Orange County Grantmakers team and fellow Summit Committee members for creating a space that encourages meaningful conversations and stronger connections across Orange County

Congratulations to this year’s award recipients, and thank you to all of the speakers, funders, nonprofit leaders, and community partners who contributed to such a meaningful day. Give your emerging leaders the opportunity to build their skills, expand their networks, and make a meaningful impact in the community through OneOC’s V|LEAD (Volunteer Leadership) program.

This six-part leadership experience brings together corporate professionals and nonprofit leaders, creating opportunities to connect across sectors, grow as leaders, and prepare for meaningful volunteer leadership. For companies, it’s a way to invest in your employees while helping them build stronger connections to the community.

What does it take to become a great supervisor? Yesterday, OneOC’s "New Supervisor Skills" workshop gave emerging leaders a closer look.

Facilitated by Kesha Thomas-Clark, the interactive session focused on the real-world skills supervisors need to lead their teams effectively.

Through workplace scenarios, discussion, and practical tools, attendees explored how strong supervisors can support their teams, foster professional growth, and adapt their leadership approach to meet the needs of their people.

🧡 At OneOC, some of our best conversations happen outside of meetings over a cup of coffee, a quick catch-up, and time to connect with the people we work alongside every day.

Our team does important work every day in service to our community, and making time to connect with one another matters, too. Taking a moment to step away, share a conversation, and strengthen our relationships helps us work more collaboratively and move forward together as one team.

Today, our staff took some time to grab some coffee and enjoy each other’s company. Because meaningful work starts with meaningful connections, and strong teams are built together.
