Today on Menstrual Hygiene/Health Day, girls around the world are normalizing conversations around periods and reminding the world that periods should never stand in the way of confidence, education, or opportunities.

Language is not neutral in women's and girls’ health.

From PCOS → PMOS and menstrual hygiene → menstrual health, we are seeing important shifts in how reproductive and menstrual health are understood.

These changes matter because language shapes how we recognize symptoms, understand our bodies, and access care.

When language is stigmatized or incomplete, women and girls are more likely to be misunderstood or overlooked. When it is accurate and inclusive, it supports better awareness of conditions like PCOS, menstrual health, and overall reproductive health 🩸

As Menstrual Hygiene Day approaches, we’re reflecting on why language in menstrual health matters. Because language shapes what is seen, believed, and addressed ❤️
