CHEA Hoop Shoot Contest, Southern California

48 children from nine Southern California districts competed for the six spots in the Regional contest which will be held on February 21, 2026 in Henderson, Nevada.

Due to the size of CHEA, the contest is held in three phases. 1) Hawaii holds their contest first and sends their scoresheets to our CHEA Hoop Shoot Chairman, David Martin. 2) January 10th CHEA Hoop Shoot Vice Chairperson, Leslie Fisher held the Southern California contest in Riverside. Hawaii shooters beat two of our high shooters; Southern CA had four shooters that scored higher than Hawaii. 3) Northern California will hold their contest in Modesto on January 31st. David Martin took their score sheets to compare them with Northern CA shooters. The four So CA winners will be notified if they will move on to Regionals. We wish them good luck. Boys 8-9, London Durham, Huntington Beach #1959, Boys 10-11, Jeremy Ewing, Lancaster #1625, Boys 12-13, Cayden Sanford, Moreno Valley #2697, Girls 10-11, Sara Chavez, El Cajon #1812.

A huge thank you to CHEA Hoop Shoot Chairman David Martin, all of our Volunteers that helped with the contest and to the shooters, their families and Elroy who joined us from the Huntington Beach Lodge.
