Two major developments proposed along the Mousam River are raising concerns in southern Maine. A sewage sludge thermal processing plant could release PFAS into the environment and water supply, while a proposed data center raises questions about groundwater use, public health, and quality of life. With the Mousam River still recovering from decades of industrial pollution, residents and advocates are asking what these projects could mean for the future of the watershed and surrounding communities.
