October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. At Caring Unlimited, DVAM means highlighting the lived realities of survivors, providing opportunities for connection, and raising awareness about the impact of domestic violence in our communities.
There are many ways to support Caring Unlimited this month in honor of DVAM!

💜See our calendar of events, including our annual Survivor Stories Project, which will be held Oct. 22nd at McDougal Orchards in Springvale, and uplifts the stories of survivors in their own words.

💜You can also support us by becoming a monthly donor, voting for us to win funding from the Better Neighbor Fund, hosting an event on our behalf, or learning about volunteering opportunities!

Your support of our work allows us to provide urgent safety planning advocacy and support services to abuse survivors when they need them most.

Writing and sharing stories is a powerful way to raise awareness about domestic violence in our community, as well as a way to help heal from abuse.
Caring Unlimited’s Survivor Stories Project is a story sharing event held annually during October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Authors can choose to share their stories themselves, or remain anonymous, and do not need to have received services from Caring Unlimited to contribute.
Visit our website for more information, including a writing guide to help organize your thoughts. Stories can also be included in a booklet and/or in an online collection.

Our Residential Services Program includes an 18-bed emergency shelter, 11 units of transitional housing in Sanford, 6 new units of supported permanent housing in Biddeford, and individualized housing navigation assistance to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. With the help of our community, we make sure that the clients in our residential programs have the household and personal items they need to make a comfortable home. Last week, Caring Unlimited tabled at UNE’s annual Sexapalooza - a night of education and fun! This fair-style event includes info tables and activities hosted by student leaders, community resources, and local organizations. Hundreds of students came through the event and stopped by our table. Thank you to UNE for always including us in this awesome event, and to all the students who stopped by to learn about CU!

A huge thank you to the volunteer group from Camden National Bank, who came by yesterday to stain playground furniture at our shelter and residential apartments for the families who live there! They also helped organize some recently donated items. Our strong team of supporters and volunteers do so much to serve the individuals and families who rely on our services!
