Forged Through The Fire

Forged Through The Fire Brotherhood. Healing. Resilience.

Forged Through the Fire strengthens, restores, and empowers Veterans & First Responders through martial arts, peer support, trauma-informed retreats, and crisis response.

Forged Through The Fire is honored to be apart of this event supporting the veterans in out community.

Volusia County Veterans Services has a dual mission as the team leads the Stand Down: providing crucial support to homeless veterans while bringing together our entire veteran community in fellowship and recognition. The 2024 national snapshot identified 75 homeless veterans in our area - a 6% decrease from 2023. While this progress encourages us, we know that supporting homeless veterans requires the strength of our entire veteran community working together.

Volusia County Veterans Services Stand Down's primary focus is connecting homeless veterans with life-changing services and support. Through our "hand up, not handout" approach, we work to break down the barriers keeping these heroes on the streets and provide essential services.

RIP Trooper Diego

From FHP Colonel Howze -
On behalf of Director Kerner and your FHP Command Staff, it is with great sadness we inform you that, this evening, Trooper Michael Diego (ID: 1529), suffered a medical emergency while participating in a competitive process for the Patrol’s Criminal Interdiction Unit, being held at the FHP Training Academy. Troopers on scene, soon supplemented by Gadsden County EMS, provided immediate lifesaving efforts. Trooper Diego was transported to HCA Florida Gadsden Emergency and later airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Despite extraordinary lifesaving efforts of State Troopers, First Responders and medical staff, Trooper Diego tragically passed away with his loved ones by his side.

Trooper Diego began his career with the Florida Highway Patrol in 2021 as part of the 149th Recruit Class. During his career, he was assigned to Troop L - Fort Pierce District and recently transferred to Troop F – Fort Myers District. He served the Florida Highway Patrol and the residents of Florida for more than 4 years.

Trooper Diego is the 55th Florida State Trooper to pass in the line of duty and is survived by his mother, sister, and fiancé. Please keep Michael’s loved ones, as well as our entire FHP Family, in your thoughts and prayers as we all grieve this tragic loss

As we reflect on our journey so far, we are filled with gratitude.

To everyone who has locked shields with us, stood beside us, and supported our outreach efforts, thank you. This mission does not move forward without your belief, your time, and your willingness to stand in the gap with us.

To our Advisory Board, we are deeply grateful for your partnership, leadership, and investment in this cause. Your guidance and commitment strengthen our foundation and help turn vision into action.

To the community of First Responders and Veterans who are courageously facing mental health challenges, we see you. You are not alone. We are here for you, and we look forward to growing, healing, and rebuilding together as brothers in arms.

As we step into a new year, may it bring a renewed path toward healing the hard moments we have lived, honoring the weight we carry, and forging a future grounded in resilience, brotherhood, and hope.

Here’s to a bright new future together.

🌟 Faith | Food | Fellowship at Sanford Recovery House 🌟

Grateful for the opportunity to spend time with the men at the Sanford Recovery House of Central Florida. Thank you to Edward Carr and Fritz Voltaire for welcoming us and allowing us to serve.

Behind every smile is a battle, and this visit was a powerful reminder that every man deserves to be seen, heard, and encouraged, especially this time of year. We were honored to hear a powerful testimony from Rick Cardona, U.S. Army Veteran, who shared his journey of faith, redemption, and overcoming adversity.

Thank you for allowing us to serve, break bread, and fellowship together.

🌟 Faith | Food | Fellowship at Sanford Recovery House! 🌟

What an incredible privilege it was to spend time with the men at the Sanford Recovery House of Central Florida! We are grateful to Edward Carr and Fritz Voltaire for opening their doors and allowing us to serve their residents.

Behind every smile is a battle going on that is often not talked about. It was truly moving to hear from Ed and Fritz how much this visit meant, especially during this time of year when men can often feel forgotten and overlooked. We believe everyone deserves to feel seen, uplifted, and heard.

Our time was filled with a powerful testimony from Rick Cardona, a Veteran who served in the U.S. Army. Rick shared a powerful story about redemption on how he came to faith, overcoming adversity and challenges that many men, first responders, and veterans face every day.

We are committed to fostering genuine connection and look forward to building on this relationship with the Recovery House of Central Florida, Inc.

To Fritz, Ed, and the entire Sanford Recovery House community: Thank you for allowing us in your home. It was an honor to serve, break bread, and have an opportunity to fellowship with all the men at the Recovery House.

We are praying for all the men at the Recovery House and especially for your vision for 2026, with the renovation of the 17 rooms remaining in the house to revamp and give all the men there the second chance everyone deserves in life.
