Our new Afterschool Program is growing, and more families are enrolling. We’re looking for additional staff to help make afternoons fun, active, and meaningful for the children we serve.

AFTERSCHOOL STAFF

Monday–Friday
2:00–5:30 PM
Starting at $15/hour
Additional hours may be available.

We’re looking for people who are:

• Fun, energetic, and engaging
• Patient, caring, and dependable
• Creative and willing to participate in activities
• Comfortable working with children with disabilities with a variety of personalities, interests, and support needs
• Good at building positive relationships with children
• Comfortable transporting children as part of the job

Requirements:

• Experience working with children with disabilities is strongly preferred
• Clean driving record
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and all required employment screenings
• Reliable and dependable attendance

Experience in childcare, education, recreation, direct support, or human services is a plus.

This could be a great fit for retirees or semi-retired individuals, college students, teachers, childcare professionals, or anyone looking for meaningful part-time work during the afternoon.

Most importantly, we’re looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with children with disabilities and want to help create an enriching afterschool experience.

This week marks 53 years since the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 was signed into law.

For people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, its significance is part of a much larger shift in how we understand disability.

The Rehabilitation Act helped establish that people with disabilities have a right to access, participation, and opportunity without discrimination. It challenged the idea that disability should determine where someone learns, works, lives, or spends their time.

Those principles continue to shape the work happening every day in communities across the country.

At Stevens Center, we see that work in the ordinary things that matter: having a place to belong, learning new skills, making choices, building relationships, trying something new, and being part of community life.

There is still work to do. And 53 years later, the idea remains just as important: disability should never be a reason to have fewer opportunities to participate in the world around us.

We are now hiring a Program Manager of IDD Day Services to provide leadership across our Sanford and Angier locations. We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, flexible, client and family focused, confident, and motivated to create spaces where people thrive. You should be comfortable leading and motivating a team, hiring and developing great staff, solving problems, having the hard conversations, and thinking outside the box to create better outcomes for the people we support.

This isn’t a sit-behind-the-desk management job. We want someone who gets involved, builds relationships, sees possibilities, and isn’t afraid to tackle a challenge. In return, you’ll join a growing organization where your ideas matter, professional growth is encouraged, and you’ll have the opportunity to help shape innovative services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Bachelor’s degree, 3+ years of human services/IDD experience, and management experience required, with multi-site leadership a plus. Meet Richie 💙

Richie first came to Stevens Center as an active participant in our Connections group. Today, he works as our front desk receptionist, and he’s quickly become a vital part of our operations team.

Richie has taken on this new role by greeting people, helping out, and keeping things moving. Outside of work, Richie has been busy too. He recently moved in to his own apartment, and he’s been getting more involved outside of the office, including attending community meetings and events.

Richie is working, living on his own, getting out in the community, and broadening his horizons every single day. We’re so inspired by his drive and motivation, and so happy to have him on our team. Thanks for all you do, Richie!
