🐎 And they’re off! District 84’s first DEC meeting of the year is officially in the books!
Today, our District Executive Committee came together—both in person and online—for a full day of learning, discussion, decisions, planning…and quite a few laughs along the way.
We kicked things off with Beth Ramsay making parliamentary procedure a whole lot less intimidating (with a little help from Secretariat 🐎), then put those new skills immediately to work as we handled the business of the District.
We talked finances and reimbursements, officer training, club growth, contests, conferences, public relations, upcoming opportunities, and how we can better support our clubs and members throughout District 84.
And yes—we actually practiced making motions, amendments, points of information, calling the question and voting. Learning by doing is very Toastmasters. 😉
But a DEC meeting isn’t only about motions, reports and procedures.
It’s about the PEOPLE volunteering their time to help our clubs thrive.
So we made time for a little celebration, too. 🎉 We recognized several birthdays in the room and wrapped up lunch by singing Happy Birthday to our Program Quality Director, Richard Hoar, DTM! 🎂🥳
There were questions.
There was discussion.
There were differing opinions.
There was laughter.
There was learning.
And there were a whole lot of people working together because they care about the future of District 84.

Thank you to every Area Director, Division Director, District leader and member who showed up, spoke up, asked questions, shared ideas and helped us move District 84 forward.
