Take Stock in Children is a unique program of the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools that provides mentor partnerships and scholarship opportunities to at-risk youth in our community. The mission of Take Stock in Children is to passionately promote personal growth, self-responsibility, and academic success for deserving at-risk children. We do this by providing a unique set of resources including mentors, scholarships, student advocacy, and guaranteed educational opportunity.

Our 30 Take Stock scholars, our biggest graduating class, have graduated with an average GPA of 3.7 and together they have completed 3,498 volunteer hours. With 120 students in the program, and 117 mentors, we are growing each year, offering scholarships, mentors, and hope. Our seniors and their mentors have spent over 2,700 incredible mentor sessions together in the past 4 years of high school. 100% of our seniors agreed that the meeting with their mentor was the most beneficial part of the TSIC program. ๐ŸŽ“ Outstanding Senior: Nyla Trice ๐ŸŽ“

Nyla will graduate from Lake Howell High School with an AP Capstone Diploma and an impressive 4.6 GPA. Throughout high school Nyla was actively part of Lake Howellโ€™s Step Team, Health and Wellness club, Choir, Student Government and National Honors Society. Her favorite high school memory is joining the Dynasty Dance team. After graduation, Nyla plans to attend University of Central Florida to study architecture. We would like to recognize Nyla as this yearโ€™s Take Stock Seminole Class of 2026 Outstanding Senior. She plans to attend Seminole State College and major in interior design with a minor in business. Her favorite memory at Lyman High School was participating in Young Women of Excellence. Justice will graduate from Oviedo High School. She plans to enroll in Miami Dade College where she will study Natural Sciences. Justice enjoyed being involved with the Black Student Union which gave her a bigger understanding of her culture and the pickle ball club allowed her time to have fun and stay active with friends! ๐ŸŽ“ Senior Highlight: Jenzel Rivera ๐ŸŽ“

Jenzel will graduate from Winter Springs High School and plans to attend Seminole State College in the fall to study Automotive Engineering Technology. His favorite memory of high school was singing in chorus with friends laughing his lungs out. He also cherishes the moment during a dramatic comeback for his varsity volleyball team, when he got subbed in the middle, a position he had never played before, and scored a point!
