Seminole Cultural Arts Council

Seminole Cultural Arts Council Color your life. Support the arts! The Seminole Cultural Arts Council serves to advocate for Seminole County’s arts-rich community in Central Florida.

Formed in 1994, the Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization offering sponsorships, fundraising events, a grants program, a county-wide arts and cultural map, community-based arts programming, and much more. SCAC is a catalyst for the preservation of local cultural and historic heritage, including performing, literary, and visual arts and sciences. Uti

lizing social media, SCAC acts as a
clearing house for arts and culture announcements in Seminole County and Central Florida. Our mission is to serve, support and nurture the cultural and artistic needs of our residents, and to sustain, develop and advance the cultural life of Seminole County. In May 1995, the Seminole County Board of Commissioners designated SCAC as the official recipient of
specialty Florida State of the ARTS license plate funds. With this and other fundraising efforts, SCAC is able to provide grants to arts and cultural organizations, individual artists, and the community. SCAC also works to support outreach programs for special populations, scholarships, educational exhibitions, and to maintain the affordability of community-based arts and cultural experiences and activities.

We're proud to share that Seminole Cultural Arts Council Executive Director, Dr. Deborah Bauer, is featured in a new preview clip from WUCF TV , as part of its growing America250 collection.

As a historian specializing in colonial British Florida during the late eighteenth century, Dr. Bauer discusses the challenges historians face when researching women's experiences during the American Revolution. While women played essential roles in shaping their communities and supporting the war effort, many of their stories were never fully documented, leaving historians to piece together lives that were often reduced to "wife of" or "mother of" in the historical record.

Watch the preview to learn more about what's been left out of the history books and how historians work to recover these overlooked stories to teach us today about yesterday's past!

Be sure to explore WUCF's collection and look for the full episode of Florida Road Trip later this year!

ARTISTS NEEDED!

The Seminole Cultural Arts Council and the Museum of Seminole County History invite artists to submit work for "Gather to Celebrate," a special exhibition exploring the ways people come together to commemorate life's meaningful moments.

From weddings and birthdays to festivals, parades, reunions, holidays, graduations, memorials, and community traditions, celebrations help us preserve memories, honor milestones, and strengthen our connections to one another. We're seeking artwork that captures the joy, reflection, ceremony, and shared experiences that make these moments memorable.

Whether your work depicts a large public gathering or an intimate personal celebration, we encourage artists to explore the themes of remembrance, commemoration, tradition, and the enduring human desire to gather together.

Artists working in a variety of media are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to watercolor, acrylic, oil painting, mixed media, pen and ink, pencil, charcoal, chalk, colored pencil, Prismacolor, and markers. A limited number of spaces are also available for three-dimensional works and sculpture.

Important Dates:

• Submission Deadline: June 26, 2026
• Final Artwork Selection: On or Before June 30, 2026
• Artwork Delivery and Installation: July 9, 2026
• Exhibition Dates: July 11 through August 1, 2026
