Barris was scheduled to die at South LA shelter! We reached out to the shelter to inquire if anyone had stepped up but we got a response we were not expecting- she was in the euth room and we had 10min to make a decision if we wanted to pull her!

We literally reached out to everyone we knew and threw a plan together!

Huge thank you to all who helped make this happen!!

After careful consideration, we are announcing that effective immediately, our rescue will no longer be offering courtesy pulls for other rescue organizations moving forward. Anyone requesting a pull from a shelter must go through a thorough vetting process and pay the adoption fee up front which may be reimbursed if you are a rescue organization and provide proof that the animal is in your care and not left in a boarding facility.

This decision was not made lightly. In the past, we have extended courtesy pulls in good faith to assist fellow rescues and individuals during urgent situations. Unfortunately, due to repeated instances of irresponsible follow-through, lack of accountability, and actions that placed animals and our organization at risk, we must prioritize the integrity, safety, and sustainability of our own rescue operations.

Our responsibility is first and foremost to the animals in our care and to the volunteers, fosters, and supporters who trust us to operate ethically and responsibly. Moving forward, all intakes will be handled solely through our organization’s established process and capacity guidelines.

We remain committed to collaboration within the rescue community when it is responsible, transparent, and aligned with animal welfare best practices. However, courtesy pulls will no longer be part of our operational model with the exception of if you are willing to follow the previously listed guidelines above.
