This afternoon, I had the pleasure of attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the new visitors center at the House in the Horseshoe State Historic Site. It was an extra bonus to share the experience with my old friend Pamela Brewington Cashwell who was there in her official capacity as the Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. They’re doing great work at NCDNCR under her leadership.

Join us in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States and the historic ride of Paul Revere by participating in the "Two Lights for Tomorrow" initiative!

On the night of April 18-19, 1775, Paul Revere made his famous ride to warn the American patriots of the approaching British forces. The signal of two lanterns in the Old North Church indicated that the British were coming by sea. This pivotal moment in American history marked the beginning of the Revolutionary War and the fight independence.
