“Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable—think about such things.” — Philippians 4:8

Spring is a fresh invitation to renew what we dwell on. Remember the truth planted in you, stay connected to the vine and hold tightly to the truth of God’s living word. 🌿

“God, like a father, doesn’t just give advice. He gives Himself.
He becomes the husband to the grieving widow (Isaiah 54:5).
He becomes the comforter to the barren woman (Isaiah 54:1).
He becomes the father of the orphaned (Psalm 10:14).
He becomes the bridegroom to the single person (Isaiah 62:5). He is the healer to the sick (Exodus 15:26).
He is the wonderful counselor to the confused and depressed (Isaiah 9:6).”

GLOBAL SPOTLIGHT: The Philippines
with Elizabeth Minium

Elizabeth has helped to organize a homeschool co-op with the MKs in Mindanao! We were
very excited to ask her about it. “Co-op began when several of the moms of school-aged kids got together and talked about how we would love to have our kids learning alongside each other.” They decided to meet every Friday. The age range is from 2-13, so they wanted to choose subjects they could do all together. Elizabeth explained that they were focusing on more extracurricular activities, like learning common sports, doing different art projects, or memorizing Scripture. Growing up in the Philippines gives the kids the wonderful opportunity to explore God’s creation in ways that they would not be able to in the U.S.A., and so they have enjoyed doing nature studies together. “We also have had the opportunity to do some service projects (helping to clear out some things at the Guest-house library) and be a part of some cultural events in the community.” She explained that the MKs were able to do a short Christmas play for the parents to introduce them to the idea of presenting before a crowd—
"a very good skill for homeschoolers!” she added. Elizabeth and the other moms try to meet every few months to plan the weeks of co-op
ahead. Although the homeschoolers meet in town where the missionaries learn the national
language for the first 2 years, they love welcoming in other MKs that come out of the village. “Right now we only have one school-age child living in the village, but she has been able to come out and join us a few times.” She and her mom have also been able to lead arts and
crafts with the group several times. “My hope is that as more allocate, this will be a sweet time of connection and fellowship with the other MKs that they will look forward to, and an encouragement to the parents as
well.”

We would love to hear your stories of how you have been able to encourage community
amongst the MKs in your area! Please write us at [email protected] to tell us about it.

This February seven members of the Ethnos360 MK Care team converged on Waxahachie, TX for the MK Synergy Conference. There we joined about 100 more MK caregivers and education specialists from other missions and organizations for a great time of networking, instruction, and fellowship. We were joined by about 35 more people virtually, including two more from our team.

This annual conference is a “must-do” for our team – we send several people every year. This year’s conference featured two wonderful plenary speakers. The first was author and researcher Dr. Jolene Erlacher, founder of Leading Tomorrow (www.leadingtomorrow.org). She spoke to us about leading, coaching, and working with Generations Z and Alpha. We also heard from Dr. Sara Vroom Fick, who spoke of the importance of “Supporting MK Language Learning.” Along with these two excellent speakers, we had our choice of 15 workshops on Thursday and Friday afternoons.

Of course, one of the highlights is being able to fellowship, be encouraged by, and learn from fellow MK Care specialists from around the country and around the world. We are always encouraged when we see a growing cohort of caregivers and to see so many organizations looking at ways to improve care for MKs and missionary families!

Each year, our team has the privilege of spending 16 class hours with the missionary candidates at the Ethnos360 Training Center. In our course, The MK Journey, we dive into key topics such as MK/TCK dynamics, educational planning, and preparing families for cross-cultural transitions. This year's class was nothing short of exceptional—full of enthusiasm, insightful discussions, and meaningful engagement. It’s always a joy to equip and support these future missionaries as they prepare for the field!

"This pointed out to me just how different my own childhood experience was from what my own kids will likely experience. It was helpful to get more of an understanding of the MKs perspective and how they are impacted by a multi-cultural lifestyle." - Anonymous

"I feel more prepared with knowledge, ideas, and general principles to take care of kids if I have any and help encourage my co-workers’ kids too. I felt the whole class presentation was valuable, the thing that stood out to me was that the team will be there for us as we go overseas or stay here." - Anonymous
