Gail Miller, along with her family and the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation extend their deepest condolences to the Huntsman family upon the passing of their beloved mother, Karen Huntsman. We are saddened by the loss of our dear friend and mourn with all who knew and loved her.

Karen leaves a remarkable legacy of compassion, strength, service and love. Together with Jon Sr. and their family, she established a philanthropic legacy with lasting impact in many areas including cancer treatment and cures, mental health, helping the homeless and other important areas.

For many years our Foundation has been honored to work alongside the Huntsman family, the Huntsman Mental Health Institute and Foundation and the Huntsman Cancer Institute, sharing our united commitment to enrich lives and strengthen communities.

We join with untold numbers in acknowledging the good work that will continue in her name. We honor Karen’s life and example with gratitude and deep respect and send our heartfelt sympathies to her family.

A new chapter begins in July as Amanda Covington assumes the role of Executive Director of Miller Family Philanthropy and the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation, in addition to her responsibilities as Chief Corporate Affairs at the Larry H. Miller Company.

We’re deeply grateful to Don Stirling for his thoughtful stewardship and the philanthropic relationships he has helped build and strengthen across Utah. His work has played an important role in advancing this mission and expanding the foundation’s impact in communities throughout the state.

We look forward to Amanda’s dedicated leadership in this next chapter and to continuing our mission of enriching lives and strengthening communities.

This Memorial Day, we honor the courage, sacrifice and enduring strength of those who have served.

Last week, the Atlantis Foundation kicked off the summer season by welcoming Special Forces veterans for a special program at Range Valley Ranch—creating space to build skills, strengthen community and support their transition from combat to civilian life.

They began by raising a 40x80 American flag on the ranch’s 150-foot flagpole, a powerful reminder of the freedom so many have fought to protect.

At the Miller Family Foundation, we are proud to work with organizations like the Atlantis Foundation who support those who have served today and every day.

Last week, we convened philanthropic leaders for the second session of the Utah Family Philanthropy Learning Cohort—a collaborative experience focused on learning, connection, and strengthening the impact of philanthropy in our communities.

A few themes especially stood out:
▪️Strong governance matters.
▪️Understanding the current landscape of
philanthropy in Utah matters.
▪️Relationships matter. Some of the best insights
come from learning alongside one another and
sharing experiences openly.

Each April, team members from across the Larry H. Miller Company come together for our weeklong Larry H. Miller Week of Service.

Now in its 16th year, the 2026 projects ranged from a Jordan River cleanup on Salt Lake City’s west side to assembling meal kits for local school districts and tying blankets which will be distributed to families and individuals experiencing homelessness.

We’re grateful to work alongside caring people who roll up their sleeves to help our communities thrive.

Recipients of the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation Westside Community Grant Initiative gathered last Friday for a fundraising workshop focused on sharpening their development skills and building connections.

Our Executive Director, Don Stirling, shared practical tips on effective fundraising, followed by a donor panel featuring Amber Greenwell (America First Credit Union), Eliot Wilcox (George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation), Kim McGuire (McGuire Family Foundation) and Lisa Nichols (Intermountain Health), who offered insights and best practices for grant seekers.

We’re honored to create spaces where nonprofit leaders can learn, ask questions and connect with the partners who are helping them make an impact in communities across Utah.

Today, the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation welcomed students from the Romney Institute’s Grantwell Program at Brigham Young University to our offices, where they shared insights and learnings from their review of the Foundation’s giving over the past several years. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn with and from the next generation of leaders and to support learning experiences that help enrich lives, strengthen communities and inspire thoughtful, impactful philanthropy.

Today, the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation announced a $10 million commitment to Great Salt Lake Rising—helping protect this indispensable natural resource.

We are grateful to stand alongside others who are helping build momentum around the future of the lake, including Maverik and The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation. Protecting the Great Salt Lake is about stewardship, partnership and doing our part to help preserve something that is central to Utah’s future.

Congratulations to the Miller Enrichment Scholars graduating with the Class of 2026! 🎓

This week, members of the Miller family and Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation gathered to celebrate the graduating cohort at a special event. Students shared memories from their time in the program and reflected on their journeys, followed by remarks from Gail Miller.

We are honored to celebrate this milestone and grateful to have been part of these students’ academic journeys. We look forward to all they will accomplish next.

Partners and community leaders broke ground on the new Miller Arts Center in a creative way, using paintbrushes to bring the future center to life—ceremonially painting a picture of what’s to come.

With a $25 million investment from the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation, and in partnership with Salt Lake County, this vision will expand access to the arts, inspire learning, and create a lasting space for connection.
