On Saturday, February 7, our Club and the Cape Cod Paws of Comfort Club co-hosted our first public eyeglass washing event. Our sincere thanks to the Clark-Haddad American Legion Post for permitting us to use their facility.
Even with the forecast of snow, we had 14 participants from the two clubs, and three volunteers from Sandwich Middle-High School’s National Honor Society.
During the two hour session, which ran from 10am to noon, we sorted, washed, dried, and bagged over 2000 pairs of glasses. These glasses will now be taken to the Raynham Lions Club, who will arrange to have the prescription of each pair determined and marked, before the glasses are individually bagged, prior to distribution.
Our next event will be held some time in April at the Bourne VFW.
