Mr. Thompson’s memory will live on through this new scholarship fund...
This is Doug Thompson, a Black drum corps director & owner from Ohio. Through Lake Erie Drum & Bugle Corps, Mr. Thompson kept thousands of Black & underprivileged children off the streets in Northern Ohio from the 1960s to the 1990s. In the early 2000s Mr. Thompson was posthumously given a civil rights award by the state for his work with Black children in the drum corps. Mr. Thompson passed away in 1994. Today, Drumlines Of America is proud to announce that we will be setting up a scholarship fund in his memory, for Black students in the marching arts activity. Donation information will soon be made available to the general public.
