19th Annual MBK Volleyball Tournament Brings Teams Together at Sandusky Schools

The gyms were filled with volleyball, competition, and community spirit this past Saturday, August 29, as the 19th Annual Michelle Butler-Keegan (MBK) Volleyball Tournament, honoring the legacy of a beloved Sandusky teacher, coach, mother, and Blue Streak.

Teams from Sandusky, Galion, Columbia Station, Edison, Port Clinton, Maumee, Marion Harding, and Open Door Christian Academy came together for a full day of volleyball. The tournament not only provides an opportunity for teams to compete, but also raises money for the Michelle Butler-Keegan Scholarship Fund, which supports an outstanding Sandusky female athlete each year.

On the varsity side, Maumee went undefeated at 3-0 to claim 1st place, followed by Edison in 2nd and Open Door Christian Academy in 3rd.

The JV tournament was just as competitive, with Edison finishing 3-0 to take 1st place. Maumee earned 2nd, Columbia Station finished 3rd, and Sandusky rounded out the JV field in 4th.

While the wins and losses were a big part of the day, the MBK Tournament is about so much more than volleyball. It is a day to remember Michelle, celebrate the game she loved, bring communities together, and continue her legacy of leadership, love, and Blue Streak pride.

Our 7th grade team traveled to Put-In-Bay for their first game of the season. Not only did they get a big win they also spent some time having a little fun!
