We would like to thank the Sandusky Aquatic Center along with the Erie County Health Department for their continued support of Local 327.

They have recently worked directly with our Dive Team to let us utilize the pool for physical readiness and equipment safety checks.

Do not hesitate to stop and say hello when we are there.

Each year our divers must go through a swim test and dive skills test to ensure our preparedness for the upcoming year.

It is with heart felt condolences Local 327 has lost a retired member.

Ret. Lt. Jeff Brunner passed away 1/16/26.

Ret. Lt. Brunner served with Local 327 for 30 years as well as time served with Bay View Fire and Cedar Point Fire.

Over the past six months, Fire Marshal William Salmons and Firefighter Jacob Buchanan earned three prestigious national certifications in fire investigation: the IAAI Fire Investigation Technician (FIT), Evidence Collection Technician (ECT), and the NAFI Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI). These credentials highlight their expertise, field experience, and commitment to NFPA 1021, 1033, and 1037 standards.
Notably, Salmons and Buchanan are two of only three certified FITs in Northwest Ohio, and among just 180 in the entire state. Their certification process included over 180 hours of training, 54 hours of online classes, and multiple proctored exams and exercises.
Most recently, they completed the DHS-funded Post-Explosion Investigations (PEI) – Residential course at New Mexico Tech, combining classroom learning with live-range explosive crime scene training. This high-level instruction came at no cost to the Sandusky Fire Department.

Devastating news from a local community. Our thoughts and prayers for the Greenwich area and their firefighters for the loss of one of their own. Tri-Community Firefighter lost his life this morning in a house fire. Local 327 pays our respects to this family and the department.

October 5th @ 11am.

This year, dedicated members of Local 327 Sandusky Fire Fighters, together with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), will be out on the corner of 5th and Cedar Point Rd. (Station 3) with boots in hand for the fire fighters' annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign celebrating 70 years of partnership between MDA and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF). This long-standing program raises funds to support MDA’s mission to empower people with neuromuscular diseases to live fulfilling and independent lives through research, care, community support and advocacy. Contributions to Fill the Boot fund groundbreaking research for promising treatments and therapies and provide families with the highest quality care from the best doctors and medical teams in the country.

Please join us in donating if you can with members boots on the ground at 11am.

Dive operation at Jackson Street Pier
Yesterday, divers and support team members of the SFD dive team conducted an operation at the Jackson St. Piers, Goodtime 1 and Pellee Islander dock. A large tire had broken away from the dock’s bulkhead and created an underwater hazard. Two teams of two divers each worked by 1st, conducting a search pattern in zero visibility conditions to locate the target. During the initial search, divers located a section of crowd control fence used during JSP events. The object was removed and divers continued search patterns for initial target. Once located, a pelican float was secured to target and released to surface to maintain target location. The second team then dropped down on target. Working together, the divers secured a heavy duty lifting strap and large lift bag supplied by Tow Boat USA.
Using surface supplied air, the object was lifted to the surface and secured to SFD’s fire boat “William O Bird 2”. The tire was then transported to the Shelby St. Boat ramp and removed from the water. Mission accomplished! Your fire department is out serving everyday, all day!
