🇺🇸🦌 A LITTLE FAMILY TIME IN BETWEEN TAKING VETERANS AFIELD! 🦌🇺🇸

In between the craziness of getting veterans outdoors with Brave Souls United, our own Totz Patrick was able to get his daughter out after school for a couple of evenings of Wyoming deer hunting.

They started out chasing a cool cactus buck Patrick had spotted one rainy morning. They found him just across the fence on private land at 150 yards the first evening, but couldn’t turn him up the next day. With limited time, they shifted gears and started looking for other bucks.

Eventually, they spotted a group of five bucks and worked their way into position.

At 480 yards, Kinzi settled in behind the 25 Creedmoor and absolutely delivered! 🎯 Her precisely placed 117-grain McGuire Ballistics Copper Rose did the job, and the buck folded.

Patrick couldn’t be prouder of his girl, and we can certainly understand why!

At Brave Souls United, we spend a lot of time talking about the healing power of the outdoors, the importance of family, and the memories made along the way. Whether we’re helping a veteran experience a hunt they never thought possible or watching our own kids grow up in the outdoors, these moments are what it’s all about.

The animals are special, but the memories, the time together, and the lessons passed down from one generation to the next are what last a lifetime.

Jon Schein 🇺🇸

23 years. Dozens of deployments. A lifetime of service.

Please join us in welcoming Jon Schein, a retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major, to the Brave Souls United family!

Jon served from May 1996 to June 2019, retiring after 23 years, 1 month, and 10 days of service (but who’s counting? 😉). A communications specialist throughout his entire military career, Jon deployed dozens of times, including 15 deployments to the CENTCOM area of responsibility.

After more than two decades of service, the transition back to civilian life can bring challenges that aren’t always visible from the outside. Finding purpose, connection, and a new mission doesn’t necessarily end when the uniform comes off.

Jon shared something that gets right to the heart of what Brave Souls United is all about:

“The outdoors means a lot to me, whether by myself or with others. It is my time to connect with God and heal!!! I am extremely humbled to be granted/gifted an opportunity to spend time with Brave Souls United and fellow veterans as we connect through nature.”

Like many of us, Jon knows the struggle veterans face after leaving the military; searching for purpose and trying to understand why we’re still here. For Jon, opportunities like this provide time to reflect and remember that he is still here for a reason.

That is the power of the outdoors. It’s more than hunting. It’s about brotherhood, faith, healing, and finding purpose alongside people who understand the road you’ve traveled.

At Brave Souls United , we believe no veteran should have to navigate that journey alone. Veteran Hunter DIY success ! 🇺🇸👊🏻

Josh Weilbacher proudly served 9 years in the United States Marine Corps as a Motor Transport Marine and wrecker operator, completing my active-duty service in 2024.

The Corps taught him discipline, sacrifice, leadership, and the importance of brotherhood. Although he hung up the uniform, the values and lessons he learned will stay with him for life.

Today, he believes in continuing to serve by supporting others, especially fellow veterans. The outdoors offers something special, a chance to reconnect, find peace, build friendships, and rediscover purpose beyond the uniform.

Sometimes it’s about more than the hunt. It’s about the people beside you, the conversations along the way, and knowing you don’t have to walk through life alone.

The uniform may come off, but the mission to serve others never ends.

Twenty-five years of military service. More than 4,700 military flight hours. Over 9,000 hours in the air. A retired U.S. military Command Pilot who served his country across multiple operations around the world.

Brent joined Brave Souls United for a Wyoming pronghorn antelope hunt, marking his return to hunting after stepping away from it when he was very young. But before heading into the field, we spent just two hours coaching at the range, building confidence, working through the fundamentals, and getting him ready for the hunt ahead.

Then came hunt day.

Before the sun even went down on the day Brent arrived in town, he had already punched his tag!

No long wait. No drawnout hunt. Just a veteran, a new opportunity, a little time spent building confidence, and a Wyoming pronghorn hunt that came together faster than anyone could have planned.

But this is about more than filling a tag.

After a lifetime of service, the transition into retirement can mean leaving behind the camaraderie, shared purpose, and brotherhood that come with military life. Those connections don’t simply disappear because the uniform comes off.

At Brave Souls United, we believe the outdoors can help bring some of that back. The miles, the conversations, the challenges, and the moments shared in the field create opportunities to reconnect, find purpose, and build friendships that extend well beyond the hunt.
