Just before midnight on 10/7, PCSO was called to the Gym Bar and Grill on Hunt Hwy in San Tan Valley regarding shots fired. While en-route, Deputies were flagged down by witnesses near E. Copper Mine Rd. and N. Epidote Dr. Witnesses directed the deputy in the direction of the suspect, who was walking not far from there. The suspect was taken into custody and the firearm used in the shooting was secured.

At the same time, additional Deputies were at the scene of the shooting, providing lifesaving measures on the victim until medical personnel arrived. The victim, 35-year-old Rogelio Ochoa was ultimately pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The suspect, 45-year-old Travis Armstrong, has been booked into the Pinal County Jail for second degree murder.

PCSO Detectives are actively investigating this incident.

Rural Metro Fire crews responded to a paraglider crash in the area of Judd rd and Quail run when the operator fell approximately 50 feet, sustaining lower extremity injuries. Operator was transported by helicopter to a local trauma center.
