Historic lighthouse on the central coast of California! Open for tours Tues, Thurs & Sat year-round and also Monday and Friday from June 15 - September 1.

Reservations required. Piedras Blancas is located on California's central coast, seven miles north of San Simeon. The lighthouse was built in 1874 to fill the gap between the lighthouses at Point Conception and Point Sur. The name Piedras Blancas comes from the rocky outcropping just offshore.

National Lighthouse Day celebrates the anniversary of the August 7, 1789, approval of a Congressional Act for the establishment and support of lighthouses, beacons, buoys, and public piers. The day recognizes the critical role lighthouses played in the maritime history of the U.S., as well as their ongoing importance as navigational aids and teaching tools.

Just one week left to get the early-bird price of $90 for your Libations at the Lighthouse tickets!

The annual fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 19, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Guests can support the ongoing restoration efforts for the light station while enjoying a casual afternoon surrounded by the history and natural beauty of Piedras Blancas.

Harmony Cellars will once again bring their fabulous wines to enjoy, and we'll also have amazing selections from Moonstone Cellars this year! LouLou Cheese Girl will be providing appetizers, charcuterie, and sweet treats. Musician duo BAY LOVE will play in front of the gift shop, where guests can find the silent auction.

Early-bird tickets are $90 per person until August 12, then $100 per person until sold out. Tickets include entry to the light station, appetizers, charcuterie, and dessert, a welcome wine pour at check-in, two additional wine tastes, and a glass of your favorite, as well as a Piedras Blancas logo wine glass to take home.

Thanks to everyone who joined us at yesterday's second Hike-In Open House of the summer! It was foggy in the morning, but the sun peeked out in the afternoon. Thanks also to the Coastal Discovery Center staff and volunteers who joined us again, as well as all the light station volunteers who turned out to help point out wildlife to guests and answer questions.

The next Hike-In Open House will be on Wednesday, August 12.

The second Hike-In Open House of the summer is this coming Wednesday, July 22. We've had beautiful sunny skies and less wind the past week, so hopefully it continues!

To hike to the light station, park at the elephant seal viewing area 1.5 miles south of the light station or the parking lot at the vista point 1 mile to the north. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy wandering the light station between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Docents and staff will be on hand to answer questions, and the gift shop will be open.

Thanks to everyone who joined us at the Piedras Blancas Light Station yesterday for our first Hike-In Open House of the summer! It was a beautiful clear day, though very windy in the afternoon. We were joined by staff and volunteers from the San Simeon Coastal Discovery Center, who showed off animal pelts and answered questions about the Marine Protected Area.

A big thanks also to our volunteers, who welcomed hikers and answered questions about the light station and the surrounding wildlife.

Our next Hike-In Open House is on Wednesday, July 22.
