California 4-H State Field Day at UC Davis:

I had the incredible opportunity today to be an evaluator at the 4-H Coding Challenge experience, and it was absolutely fantastic! 🚀💻

As an evaluator, I got to witness the brilliance and creativity of young minds as they showcased their coding skills and problem-solving abilities. It was truly inspiring to see these young innovators bring their ideas to life through coding.

The California State 4-H Coding Challenge experience provided a nurturing environment where participants learned new programming concepts, collaborated with their peers, and tackled real-world challenges. I was amazed by the dedication and enthusiasm displayed by these talented individuals.

Not only did I have the privilege of evaluating their projects, but I also had the chance to engage in insightful discussions with the participants and witness firsthand their passion for technology and making a positive impact on the world.

Kudos to California State 4-H for organizing such an incredible event that encourages young people to explore the world of coding and develop valuable skills for the future. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this experience and to witness the bright future ahead for these aspiring coders.

If you're looking for an event that nurtures creativity, fosters collaboration, and inspires young minds in the world of coding, I highly recommend the 4-H Coding Challenge experience. It's a truly transformative journey for both participants and evaluators alike! 🌟💡

Yesterday, I had the honor of exhibiting at the Tri-Valley Innovation Fair as a Teen STEM Project Leader representing the California State 4-H STEM Advisory Committee. It was an amazing opportunity to showcase innovative and exciting 4-H STEM activities to a diverse audience of over 300 plus youth members celebrating National Robotics Week.

Our Scribble Bot activity was a major highlight of the event and was enjoyed by fair-goers of all ages. This hands-on learning experience was an excellent way for everyone who participated to explore the possibilities of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

This engaging activity is an excellent way to inspire and encourage young people's curiosity about STEM topics and introduce them to the world of robotics. Engaging with numerous young people who were eager to learn more about STEM was a highlight of the event.

Happy GIS Day today!

GIS Day is not just an event, it's a global movement. GIS day brings universities, government agencies, schools, non-profits, and GIS professionals together to build knowledge of GIS in their communities, and create understanding about the world we live in.

Successfully spearheaded and celebrated the GIS Day "project presentation" virtually through a webinar to136 high schoolers from Texas about my National 4-H GIS Leadership Team initiative - "Where's the food?" project.

Thank you, 4-H for giving me an opportunity to work with the National 4-H Leadership Team as a GeoMentor representing California.

White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health

Feeling blessed to get invited to participate virtually in the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. Thanks to the Whitehouse for the preview call arranged last week for the upcoming conference attendees and changemakers in their communities.

As part of the National 4-H GIS/GPS Leadership Team representing California, I am working on a project initiative "Where's the food?" for the past one and half years as a GeoMentor. This high-impact initiative is a resource for people in the United States to help determine the healthiness of food in their community. As a scholar of this project, I gathered data around my county (Contra Costa, California) by employing the use of many different methods of gathering data for healthy food locations, and interviews with the San Ramon City Council, San Ramon Sheriff Department, Food Bank of Contra Costa in my community.

The goal of this high-impact project initiative is to find ways for restaurants and stores to sell healthier food without losing profits to improve the overall health of the community. The mission of my initiative as a GeoMentor is to create healthy, food-secure communities and strong, equitable regional food systems by ensuring fresh and local produce is accessible and affordable for all.

Special thanks to all my mentors from the National 4-H GIS/GPS Leadership Team for guiding all the state teen GeoMentors to work on this high-impact civic engagement project initiative since 2021.

September 17, 2022 - World Cleanup Day

What is World Cleanup Day?

World Cleanup Day is the world’s largest one-day civic action, bringing together 50 million people from over 180 countries, in an attempt to fight against the global waste crisis for a more sustainable future. It will be celebrated on 17th September 2022 this year, and since 2018 it has united millions of people across the globe for the biggest waste clean-up in history.

Why is the day so important?
Every year over 8 million tonnes of plastic is dumped into our oceans on top of the 150 million tonnes that is currently there. When waste and rubbish is openly dumped on our streets, beaches and in our oceans, it starts to decompose and let off harmful chemicals into the atmosphere, leaving a negative impact on the air we breathe.

World Cleanup Day is the most incredible human collaboration project where we fight for a waste-free and sustainable future. We need your help to continue our work to organise cleanups around the globe and engage ALL THE COUNTRIES for World Cleanup Day 2022!!! Also to raise awareness about the global mismanaged waste problem and engage all the sectors to tackle this problem together.
