A week ago, the Novato City Council voted (4-1) to approve the Costco Gas Station. Please click the links to the articles in the Marin Independent Journal.
We did everything we could to make a good showing of opposition with our friends of MCL, Sierra Club Marin Group, Sustainable Marin, Sustainable San Rafael, Sustainable Mill Valley, Cool the Earth, Marin Electrification Council, Green Change, and nearly 2000 individuals who signed our petition in protest, but big business and short-term financial interests got the go-ahead. It was no surprise, but still sad and disappointing.
Our Major Rachel Farac was the only dissenting voice, the only one who really understands and cares that climate change is real and we need to stop new fossil fuel installations and protect clean air and wetlands, which are "priceless". Kudos to her and her courage!
We are not quite at the end of the road; we have an environmental lawyer who will review our options and determine whether there is a path forward to continue fighting the construction of this Mega Gas Station in our County. We will keep you posted.

LET'S BOYCOTT COSTCO GAS STATIONS! Novato isn’t the only Bay Area city backtracking on its previous anti-gas station stance. In May, the Sonoma County city of Windsor — about 35 miles north of Novato — also began talks of rolling back its ban on gas stations, with the clear intent of wooing Costco.
