When you’re really struggling, having one trusted person to turn to can make all the difference. For many kids and teens in foster care, that person is their CASA volunteer. 🩵

This World Mental Health Day, we're shining a light on the many ways CASA volunteers meaningfully support the mental health of the children they serve. They do this each day by:

👉 Practicing trauma-informed care
👉 Modeling a healthy relationship
👉 Being a positive adult in their life

What is a DAF?

A DAF is a charitable giving account that allows you to set aside funds for nonprofits you care about. This DAF Day, we hope you will consider supporting Marin CASA to ensure that children and youth in foster care have an advocate by their side.

On October 8, donors across the country are coming together to put their Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) to work and support the causes they care about.

For youth in foster care, staying connected to their culture, traditions, language, and identity can help build a sense of belonging and confidence.

34% of children and youth supported by CASA programs across California are Latino. Having an advocate who understands the importance of culture, or who shares parts of a young person’s background, can help them feel seen, comfortable, and proud of who they are.

Because representation matters. And so does knowing your story is worth honoring.

Hispanic youth make up the largest group of children in California’s foster care system. Spanish-speaking and culturally connected CASA volunteers can help young people feel seen, heard, and supported—while celebrating the language, culture, and identity that make them who they are.
