MONDAY UPDATE: HOW GIVING TO MARIN PUBLIC SCHOOLS WORKS

Did you know there are different layers of nonprofit support behind Marin’s public schools?

Here’s a simple way to understand the 3 levels of giving:

YOUR SCHOOL PTO/PTA
Supports your individual school and school community.

YOUR LOCAL PUBLIC SCHOOL FOUNDATION
Raises funds to support programs and opportunities across your district.

SCHOOLSRULE-MARIN
Brings Marin’s public school foundations together to raise funds countywide, helping ensure students have access to important educational opportunities, regardless of their ZIP code.

Why do all three matter?
Because each plays a different role. Together, they create a stronger network of support for public education throughout Marin.

In 2025, SchoolsRule-Marin distributed $917,973 to Marin public school foundations.

And in 2026, we’re working toward something BIG:

$1 MILLION for Marin public schools.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support the Shred-a-Thon! 794 vehicles came through and because of your generosity we raised $2,651.25 to help ensure every student in Marin County has access to the resources they need to be successful in school.

A very special thank you to Redwood Credit Union for your incredible partnership and for helping make this event possible. We are so grateful for your continued commitment to our community and to public education.

The stage was filled with beautiful paper flowers, each one thoughtfully created by students from Mill Valley Elementary schools, with special notes written on every flower. The room was filled with family, friends, and colleagues, together honoring a life that touched so many of us.

A gorgeous song by the Mill Valley Middle School Chamber Choir brought both tears and smiles. Trisha’s celebration of life, hosted with love by Mary Jane Burke, included heartfelt words from friends, Trisha’s husband, children and family, reminding us all of the deep love, impact, and community she built.

Thank you to Jared Huffman for the meaningful recognition from the U.S. House of Representatives.

The room was truly filled with love, gratitude, and community, just as Trisha would have wanted. We love you forever, Trisha and miss you dearly 🖤❤️
