Youth Transportation Organization Yoots' mission is to eliminate transportation as a barrier to opportunities for underserved youth

Our goal is to broaden the reach of every non-profit and school by shifting the burden of finding and paying for transportation. This helps our partners create better programs and grow their reach to a more diverse population and serve children who otherwise could not participate. It comes down to this: There are thousands of non-profit organizations in this country that do a wealth of good. However, for many, access to this great organizations is limited to walking distance, or after school programs. Yoots looks to solve the last mile problem by simply providing free, simple transportation.

Yoots created a partnership between us, California State Parks, the Richmond Outdoor Coalition, the Angel Island Ferry company and the Angel Island Conservancy. The amazing David Mills perfectly outlined how a partnership like this can make a sustainable, successful program for schools.

Love our partnerships with public schools! Thank you for the opportunity to serve!

Earlier this month, SRCS proudly sent more than 50 teachers, administrators and parents to the California Association for Bilingual Education conference in San Francisco. Thanks to a partnership with Youth Transportation Organization, a San Rafael-based nonprofit, we were able to expand access to this valuable professional learning opportunity to over 20 parents and family members.

At the conference, families and staff learned from experts about best practices for supporting multilingual learners across all grade levels. Our participants gained insights into upcoming policy changes, effective instructional practices and innovative family engagement strategies. They returned with meaningful ideas and strategies to share at their schools; their learnings are already helping to further strengthen and enrich our SRCS community.

I am personally thrilled to see the Yoots bus in service of schools in my hometown! Today educators from San Rafael City Schools District are heading to the City to participate in the California Association of Bilingual Education Conferance. So happy to provide our bus for this important opportunity.
