MUTA's main purpose is to keep taxes within reason and keep elected and appointed officials frugal with public funds. Marin United Taxpayers Association (MUTA) was born on on January 1, 1977 through the merger of the Marin County Taxpayers Association and the United Taxpayers of Marin. Its current focus includes tax limitation and monitoring of tax-using agencies to assure prudent expenditure of y

our taxes and to protect your citizen rights. Many government agencies have insufficient fiscal responsibility controls or get exposure by the media, so MUTA stands as a final overseer for you. MUTA is an all volunteer association whose members monitor and report suspect taxation and regulation activities of area governments. Both our members and other interested citizens attend public board meetings and facilitate meetings with government officials to discuss issues of interest. Member dues help us to publicize our activities in our newsletters and on this website. In addition, dues enable us to run a small office and meeting room, as well as to host an annual meeting.
