The MCCA lion dance team performs all over the Bay Area including at restaurants, weddings, cultural events, schools, and Marin County's July 4th Fair. Our style of lion dancing is called "Hok Shan", or "crane mountain", and c

omes from Southern China. Though lion dancing is a tradition for many holidays and special occasions, it is also a sport. Competitions are held annually worldwide and often include stunts and props. In 2000, the MCCA Lion Dance Team took first place at the Oakland Chinatown Streetfest Lion Dance Competition. In 2009 and 2010, the team collaborated with Youth in Arts to produce a show titled "Tales of the Nian" at the Veteran's Memorial Auditorium at the Marin Civic Center. The team annually performs at local schools during Chinese New Year to educate and expose Marin youth to the art and culture of lion dance. Senior members of the team have also given workshops to summer programs and recently, helped to incorporate lion dance into the curriculum of Marin Academy's Mandarin language program.

If you're planning on attending, please note:

Traffic update – North San Pedro Road
Construction will take place on North San Pedro Road near Buckeye Picnic Point from April 27 through May 15. On weekends, the road will remain open but reduced to one lane with a metered light.
If you enter the park from the Santa Venetia side, please expect delays of approximately 10–15 minutes.
