OUR ADA ACCESS RIGHTS ARE AT RISK
TAKE ACTION TODAY!

SB 84 is a bill in the California Legislature. It would make it harder for disabled people to use the courts when a business has a barrier that shuts them out. Those who want to limit the protections and freedoms of people with disabilities and older adults with access and functional needs are gaining support in the California legislature. We can stop them by advocating against this harmful bill in the Assembly Judiciary Committee (AJUD).

We need you to:

Send a letter to AJUD Chair Ash Kalra opposing SB 84 (submit letter here - you will need to create an account): https://calegislation.lc.ca.gov/Advocates/

Send the same letter to your own representative - in Marin County that is Asm. Damon Connolly who sits on AJUD (Send Damon your letter here): https://connolly.asmdc.org/contact

Call Asm. Damon Connolly's office telling him you OPPOSE SB 84 (916) 319-2025

Call AJUD Chair Ash Kalra's office telling him you OPPOSE SB 84 (916) 319-2012

Learning Disability Week runs from June 15 to June 21, 2026

This week is dedicated to celebrating the contributions of individuals with learning disabilities and raising awareness about their experiences.

The theme for this year’s Learning Disability Week is “Do you see me?” This theme emphasizes the importance of recognizing people with learning disabilities as individuals with unique talents and contributions, rather than defining them by labels or assumptions.

Description:

Common Ground Society SibShops is a group specifically designed for 7 – 17 year old kids that have a sibling with disabilities.

Our goal is to serve families and that includes making sure everyone feels supported. Tayler Hockett and Bella Martinez will be facilitating the group, both have experience in education, and facilitating groups.

Parents, you can expect to drop off your kiddo knowing they have a place of their own and kids – you can expect to meet other kids like you, and have fun. Please list any allergies your sibling may have so we can make appropriate accommodations.

Feel free to reach out to Tayler at [email protected] with any questions about the group, Sibs Shops, logistics or anything else. Our goal is to make sure all kids and parents feel welcomed, supported and ready to come back the following month.

Be sure to register in advance to help us plan and ensure we can reach you with any important event updates. Please note that meetups with low registration may be subject to cancellation.

June is PRIDE 🌈 Month!

“Pride Month is an annual celebration of the many contributions made by the LGBTQ+ community to history, society and cultures worldwide. In most places, Pride is celebrated throughout the month of June each year in commemoration of its roots in the Stonewall Riots of June 1969. However, in some areas—especially in the Southern Hemisphere—pride events occur at other times of the year.”
