Our Dominican University service-learning interns are here!

For three years now, Karma Club has depended on the volunteer services of our local university students to be consistent, caring and trusted adults there for our students - and back-up help to our staff.

These three spent their time on Friday completely tricking out our art department. First, cleaning and organizing, then restocking it with awesome art kits and more. We like our art department to feel like walking into an art store that just happens to have everything free. Mission accomplished!

Now that we’ve got your attention, we went to say that sometimes the most important thing a young person can have is another person who shows up for them.

In two weeks, we’re launching Karma Buddies - our new mentoring program pairing students fifth grade and up with volunteer high school students from schools all over Marin County.

Because mentorship doesn’t always have to look like sitting across a table, giving advice. Sometimes it looks like doing homework together. Sometimes it’s getting a little extra tutoring help. Sometimes it’s playing ping-pong or chess, making art, checking out the finds in the Karma Clothing store, playing music - or just hanging out and talking.

The student gets to choose.

The goal is simple: give younger students a high school “Karma Buddy” who can be a positive, encouraging presence in their life - someone a little older who remembers what it was like to be their age and can listen, help, encourage and make them feel like they belong.

And we think the high school mentors may get just as much out of it . ❤️

Sunday service in action!

Today, our director, Sally, had the opportunity to speak with the mothers and daughters of National Charity League Inc about the work Karma Club is doing to help teens thrive - particularly students who face financial barriers that can limit their opportunities and their path to a successful future.

And then they got right to work!

Following the presentation, the Mission Belles assembled 100 toiletry and self-care kits that will be available for students who would like them at:

Terra Linda Wellness Center

Something as simple as having the personal care items you need shouldn’t be a barrier for any young person. These students are a wonderful example of how thoughtful service can make an immediate difference.

We love organizations that teach young people the importance of showing up for others. Thank you, NCL Mission Belles. for giving your time, your energy, and your hearts to our community.

Scenes of the day at Karma Club …

Today had a little bit of everything:

Cruiser the therapy dog stopped by and got a huge amount of love from our students. We’re pretty sure Cruiser loved every minute of it, too.

Gorgeous art projects were finished - seriously impressive creativity happening around here.

A very “shocking” group game had everyone laughing, yelling and completely engaged.

And can we talk about these pants?! Each individual patch was sold together by hand, and the whole project took about a year to complete. Truly wanted a kind, wearable art, and quite possibly the coolest pants ever.

School is back. Karma club is back. And the energy is already amazing.

Now that we’ve got your attention … We’re Back, Karma Club!

We’re back to a new school year starting TODAY! See you inside Northgate Mall this afternoon and every Monday through Friday from 2 o’clock to 6:00 PM.

Karma Club is your free after school hang out place for every Marin County teen from 13 to 19 years old. Come through for good vibes and connection - a place where you can be yourself and connect with people who get it.

Teens 16+: You Can Bring Groceries Home For Your Entire Family

One of the things we love most about Saturdays at The Kove is that teens 16 and older can enroll in The Kove Market for their household – and then shop for free groceries for their entire family every Saturday morning. The Kove • Marin Community Hub is a “sister” space for all ages of Marin County residents, located just three doors away from Karma Club, Suite 80.

Imagine being a teenager and walking through the door with bags of groceries for your family that you helped provide. ❤️

And if you can’t make it to The Kove on Saturday morning, we can make it easy! Brenda can help eligible teens enroll while they’re already hanging out at Karma Club. Just bring the required ID and enrollment information and we’ll help you get signed up.

The Kove Market is open every Saturday from 10 o’clock to 11:00 AM inside Northgate Mall.

And while you’re there this Saturday, bring the whole family and stay for our free health and wellness talk at 11:00 AM on gut health, presented by two of our amazing Future Healers Academy professors from Dominican University of California, Kendra Hoepper and Deborah Meshel. They’ll be making smoothies with foods from the market!

DAY 3 OF MATH BASICS

this video says at all. Our students are engaged, having fun, working together, cheering each other on - and learning math.

Today, one parent shared something their student said after their first day :
“I learned more the first day here than I did all last year.”

That’s exactly what we hoped this program could do: make math click in a completely different way.

And we think we know part of the secret… Our Math Basics program is being taught by four super cool (and brilliant) high school students who know how to connect with younger students. They’re turning math into games, challenges, and team activities that make learning feel fun instead of intimidating.

Watching the students stay focused, collaborate, behave so respectfully, and actually want to solve the next problem has been unbelievably impressive.

Sometimes innovation and education doesn’t have to be complicated. Put great young people in a room together, give them creative ways to learn, and let them show us what’s possible.

Math Jeopardy for the win!

Who knew math could be fun to learn? It is when you’re taught by the smartest and coolest Redwood High School students - thank you Dillon, Teo, Blake, Noah and Deven (Marin Academy). Wow on Math Jeopardy (so fun) and getting 18 students from 13 different Marin County schools ready to get back to school with confidence.

At Karma Club Teen, we believe success isn’t just about academics-it’s also about mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

That’s why we’re excited to invite teens and families to the free Saturdays at The Kove health and wellness talks, where local physicians and wellness experts share practical ways to live healthier, happier lives.

This Saturday at 11:00 am:
Meditation for Mind, Body, and Soul

Learn simple meditation and mindfulness techniques to reduce stress, improve focus, and head into the new school feeling calmer, more confident, and ready to succeed.

Check out a few of The Kove • Marin Community Hub other Saturday talks, including nutrition and healthy eating habits, brain health, the microbiome and disease prevention and healthy aging (great grandparents too!)

And then join us for our Neighbor Connection Hour with complimentary coffee, tea and snacks.
