Yesterday, Mimi - one of the amazing delivery drivers from Extrafood - arrived at Karma Club with two huge boxes of delicious Johnny Doughnuts for our teens.

We invited her inside to show her and her two sons around Karma Club …and quickly realized we were meeting a true earth angel.

As we talked, we learned that Mimi has fostered over 150 children over the decades. 150. Even with a lifetime devoted to caring for others, she still finds time to volunteer with Extrafood and serve the community.

Some people quietly change the world without ever asking for recognition. Mimi is one of those people.

We feel incredibly blessed to have met her, heard her story, and witnessed the kind of love and compassion that reminds you humanity is still so beautiful.

Thank you, Mimi, for nourishing our teens in more ways than one.

We’ve been a little quiet about this one … but it’s time to share something incredible.

Our Karma Scholars’ Algebra Success program - now halfway through - is working. And not just a little … it’s transformational.

We’re already seeing real results :
* a student who started with a D is now earning a B
* another who had an F is now at a D and on track for at least a C by finals

And those are just two of the stories.

Like many things at Karma Club, this program started as a simple “what if?” From our founder, Sally Newson:

What if we took 12 high school students struggling in algebra from an underserved community in Marin … and gave them everything they need to succeed?
* a supportive, consistent environment at Karma Club + The Kove (with Transportation to get there)
* near 1:1 support from professional tutors and college interns
* brand-new Mac laptops straight from the Apple Store (thank you, Bothin Foundation👊🏻)
* AI-powered tutoring tools to reinforce learning
* mentorship, encouragement, and community
* and yes, Chipotle Fridays 🤣

What we’re seeing isn’t just improved grades. It’s confidence growing, homework getting done, real understanding of the material, students showing up engaged, a sense of belonging - feeling supported, seen, and capable.

This is what happens when you remove barriers and invest deeply in young people.

Grateful to partners and for trusting this vision from the start - helping identify and support students, facilitating participation, and tracking the data so we can prove impact and scale what works.

We can’t wait to see what the second half of the program brings!

Tomorrow! Back by popular demand, Evan (a Marin Academy student) will lead a Nail Art workshop at Karma Club.
No need to sign-up, just drop in and get creative with us! And like everything else at Karma Club, it’s 100% free. All supplies and instruction provided.

This one means a lot ❤️

A long time, Karma club student - who’s been coming here for two years - took a moment to share how much the space means to him … and even gave a shout out to the work behind the scenes.

Just to be clear, no bribery, was involved in the making of this video 😆

There’s something powerful about gratitude and even more powerful when young people express it. It’s contagious. When one person pauses to acknowledge what they’re grateful for it ripples outward.

At Karma Club, we talk a lot about building a space rooted in kindness, trust, respect, and connection - but moments like this are the proof. When a young person recognizes what’s been built for them and takes the time to say thank you … it means everything.

Grateful right back.

Yesterday, 25 Canal Alliance UP high school student students got a first hand glimpse into what’s ahead for the 2026 Future Healers Academy -and it was nothing short of inspiring.

At Dominican University’s Nursing Simulation Lab, students rolled up their sleeves, and stepped into the world of healthcare. They learned how to take vitals, care for a NICU baby, swaddle, newborns, and practice real clinical skills they may one day use in their careers. You could feel the curiosity, focus, and excitement in the room - this was more than just a field trip - it was a spark.

Afterwards, students enjoyed a quick campus tour, imagining themselves in the future, not so far away, before heading to Caluenga Restaurant for a well-earned dinner.

Application are now open for Karma Club’s 2026 Future Healers Academy.
