600 hours of training each year can change what comes next.

Through our partnership with Wakisa Ministries, the Wakisa Pregnancy Home in Kampala supports pregnant and vulnerable girls ages 12 to 19 with shelter, counseling, medical care, hygiene and baby supplies, and hands-on vocational training in tailoring, cooking, candle making, and urban agriculture.

Each year, this partnership directly supports around 25+ young mothers and girls, helping them build stability, continue their education, and move toward economic independence.

KEEP A GIRL IN SCHOOL

$8 can cover a reusable Hygiene Kit that lasts about three years and keep a girl in school.

Through our Hygiene Kit Program, we provide locally sewn, reusable menstrual and personal-hygiene kits to girls and women across Uganda, paired with practical personal-health education. Distributed through schools, clinics, and community outreach, these kits help reduce period-related absenteeism and support dignity, confidence, and health.

If you’d like to help fund a kit, a $100. gift goes directly to this work.

74% of families surveyed in Makindye Division said the biggest reason girls leave school is simple and devastating, they cannot afford fees or materials.

In Kampala’s slums, literacy is interrupted by more than cost alone.

Early marriage, early pregnancy, domestic labor, unsafe conditions, and a lack of sanitation and privacy at school all push girls out of classrooms and away from learning.

When we talk about literacy, we have to talk about the barriers standing in the way.

One pair of shoes can change the rhythm of a child’s day.

Through Walk With Me / Shoes That Grow, we’re helping children in Kampala’s underserved communities step into school and daily life with footwear that protects their feet, grows with them, and lasts longer for families.

It’s practical support that strengthens safety, access, and confidence, while honoring each child’s dignity.

Thank you Al and Lisa Brayton for providing shoes to MANY children in Uganda

For a child on the move, that matters.

Why does this foundation exist?

Founded in 2022

the Melissa Prandi Children Foundation was built to expand education and opportunity for children and young women in Uganda’s poorest communities, especially orphans and vulnerable children in Kampala’s slums.

From full scholarships, meals, uniforms, and mentoring through the Sponsor a Student Program to reusable hygiene kits, vocational training, and support for pregnant girls, the work is practical, measurable, and rooted in long-term independence and dignity.
