This meeting was informative in general. This community made it clear, "we see a problem", people are getting involved and the community attend by the thousands to listen, learn and to donate.
Of course many folks wanted the homeless gone right after the meeting. Those folks want a solution as soon as possible and that's not gonna happen.
this issue will take years to fix. There will always be homeless but there are too many that need a little help to get over a hump. ( financial, education, counseling, food and shelter help)
If you feel the meeting
Was waste of time then you failed your community.
Remember this is a community of people of all walks of life. Pedro is not Belair.
So use your efforts in "bitching" toward calls to organizations to help.
We are one community of hard working, dedicated and passionate people
Thank you to councilman Joe Buscaino and his staff, harbor interfaith, community organizers and everyone that attend. http://youtu.be/r_OGPxVY6Tc

What to see and give feed back?

-Peck Park Tomorrow (Saturday 3/14/15) -10am

you can check out the preliminary design guidelines we have been working on with talented urban planners and consultants.
This is a partnership with the City of LA and the City Rancho Palos Verdes joined with community and business leaders and commercial property owners to structure a plan with guidelines for future improvements to Western Ave.
For over a decade I have worked along side these folks to make sure Western is not forgotten and evolves with the changing times.

Attached is the flyer along with a link below that details on guidelines. See you tomorrow with your feed back.

SLOW YOUR ROLL SAN PEDRO...
SAD NEWS TO REPORT: WOMAN HIT BY A CAR DIES NEAR SAN PEDRO HOSPITAL. 8-29-14 around 10:30pm
VIA: Crime in San Pedro and witnesses

***Ambulance requested to 7th and Walker where a female has been hit by a vehicle she is unconscious and slowly breathing officers believe she may pass away on the scene.

UPDATE: "I believe the driver pulled over but the officer sounded pretty shook up as he was talking on the radio I believe she may be a little too far gone for any CPR or life saving techniques there are sometimes when all you can do is try to comfort the person"

FROM A FB WITNESS: "Honestly guys I saw here lying there because I was driving up. She should not have been moved. She was lying twisted and some of her clothes off. What someone needed to do was run in the er and get help which was right there. Police were there but no medical attention. I could hear ambulance coming"

FB WITNESS: "No she didn't make it and she was just coming out of the hospital crossing the street and the car coming up hit her and didn't see her. So sad i cross there all the time never again will i that could have been me."

FB WITNESS: "Female driver was not under the influence, the impact the victim received was horrible. I was there. She got transported to another hospital. Prayers to the ladies family"

This is a HORRIFIC reminder to slow down. We all tend to go fast at times. But just like "texting" and driving, while get to point A to point B, "it can wait, I rather be late." say John Mavar a Walker Ave resident and Vista Del Oro Neighborhood Watch block captain.

Mavar said, "Stop signs, signal changes, bike lanes, speed humps etc... all traffic measures to slow us down SAN PEDRO RESIDENTS... BUT we need to all slow down in general. Respect the roads and the power of our cars. Drivers do not even respect other drivers. This is why the intersection at WEYMONTH AND WESTERN AVE issue "no turn on red" was installed because weymouth west bound drivers did not pay attention or cut off the right-way of eastbound weymonth and north bound Western ave drivers.

We all must wait a little longer.

Do we need more stop signs ... I say no!
But for safety and this recent death ....all I can say is THAAAANKS bad drivers.

My thoughts and prayers are with the woman that was hit and passed away. I am sure the driver of the car will not sleep well for a while.

Thoughts: install another stop sign (which is highly unlikely because 7th street is a secondary highway) or what do we do??? A campaign called "SLOW YOUR ROLE SAN PEDRO" with year signs, billboard ads, etc.?

It Can Wait!!

Last year I took the pledge to never text and drive and signed up to hear about new ways I can support the cause.

Summer is here, and in case you didn't know, it's the most dangerous time of year to be driving. I am calling on you now to help make our roads safer for everyone.

I know how hard it can be to fight the temptation to pick up the phone when you're behind the wheel, so the "ItCanWait" is introducing new tools to help drivers prevent texting "in the moment of temptation."

By posting in text messages, social media or email you are telling your friends you're about to drive and can't respond until you safely reach your destination.

How You Can Help!!

1. Use to pause the conversation in text messages, social media or email. This will let everyone know you're about to drive and will respond once you safely reach your destination.
2. Spread the word about with your friends, family, and social media – Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Come up with your own creative way to share before you drive. We’ll be on the look-out for the most creative ideas and by verifying your Instagram or Twitter account at ItCanWait.com; your posts could be featured in It Can Wait campaign communications.
3. Stay in touch! Follow us on Twitter - . Visit our website for updated features, tools, and creative solutions like our Drive Mode app.

The annual day of action will be on September 19. Together we'll spread the movement and share the message: before you drive.

No text is worth a life. Thank you for making our roads safer!
