Friends of San Pedro Library Announce A Special Showing of Acclaimed Documentary Love & Bananas With Director / Producer Ashley Bell in Attendance Sunday, February 24, 2019 2:00 p.m.Phil Scott Meeting Room San Pedro Library. Elephant rescues in Thailand and Cambodia are rare, unpredictable and often life-threatening. After waiting two and a half years, actor/director Ashley Bell and a team of elephant rescuers led by world renowned Asian elephant conservationist and TIME Magazine's Hero of Asia, Lek Chailert, embark on a daring mission 480 miles across Thailand to rescue Noi Na, a seventy-year old partially blind trekking elephant and bring her to freedom

January 27th is fast approaching and I want to remind you of our special presentation - An Afternoon with Val Zavala will be at 2:00 pm at The Grand Annex. (434 West 6th Street in San Pedro). Tickets are $20. Hope to see you there.

The Used Book Sale will be hosted by The Friends of San Pedro Library on Friday Jan 4, 2019 from 2-5 pm for members of the Friends of SP Library. General public sale will be on Saturday Jan. 5 from 11- 4 pm.

An Afternoon with Val Zavala will be held at the Grand Annex on January 27th at 2:00 pm. Val Zavala, winner of 19 LA area Emmy awards and a Walter Cronkite award for excellence in journalism, has been an integral part of the Los Angeles news scene for thirty years, serving as Vice President of News and Public Affairs for KCET. She is best known as anchor of SoCal Connected and also served as reporter, anchor and executive producer of the long-running local news magazine, Life & Times. Val Zavala retired from KCET in January 2018. She now serves on its board of directors. Tickets are $20.
