I'm so happy to announce that Max... formerly known as Moses 26-10371 from SEAACA will NOT be leaving the building. 🤭🫠🤣🤣

Max is home. But we kinda knew that from the beginning when my friend (and previous adopter of one of my rescues... also pictured in one of the video clips here) fostered him.

We're still dealing with his ongoing ear infections, which have been treated from the beginning. But overall Max is doing fantastic. He's decompressed and doesn't try to bite any more. He's playful. He loves his siblings. And his mom is so I'm love with him.

These are the happy tails we strive for when we rescue a senior dog that is Rescue Only.

Please join me in congratulating Max and his new family.👏💙🐾☮️🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I'm looking for a volunteer who can pick up and transport Turbo from Laguna Beach to my vet in Huntington Beach. It's not an emergency so we can do it whenever you're available.

Turbo I rescued last year from the Downey Shelter, and she is being fostered by my friend Katy in Laguna. She's got a couple masses that are growing (one on her neck and one on her side) and we need to get them looked at ... but this is not a life or death situation.

Please DM or comment if you can help🫶☮️🐾💙

I'll just leave this here for now...
..but I'll be sharing Mr Pickle's story.

2 years to the day from when I rescued him at SEAACA....
.. and we were seconds away from saying goodbye to him because of the scare tactics used by vets like this.

We were so fortunate for Dr Naito.
.. what was a $13,000 quote with a $4,000 paid bill for Diagnostics ...
.. turned into just $1,000 and an actual success to save our little old man Mr Pickles aka Pizza Man

Granny Shelby had a follow up visit with Dr Naito today to go over her lab results and do an offer all wellness recheck.

Obviously some of the results weren't what we'd hoped for. Some of the values were indicative of acute pancreatitis and some limited kidney function. She also had some numbers that indicated she's got some thyroid issues going on.

So today she got some fluids along with a nail trim. The doctor sent her home with some renal support supplements and thyroid medication. She will also go on a homemade kidney diet to prevent those values from getting worse, but they weren't so bad that we have to limit her too much. She will also be taking some weight gain supplements.

Overall though today was a good day for her. She's definitely having many more good days than bad days, and we are super excited for that. When I rescued her a couple weeks ago I thought it was just to give her a couple days or a week of compassion and love ... but she's showing us that she's not done living yet.

A special thank you to her foster mommy Carolyn who is doing an absolutely fabulous job with her.

Animal Services has been an important part of this year’s budget discussions, and I wanted to share some of the investments our committee is proposing to the full Council this week.

We are recommending increased City funding for Animal Services, including an additional $1 million for the spay and neuter program, full funding for the Dogs Playing for Life program that provides exercise and socialization for shelter animals, and restored funding for medical supplies and pet food.

For the One-Five, we are also restoring funding for an Animal Care Technician Supervisor at the Harbor Shelter to strengthen operations and animal care in our district.

We are also grateful for the historic $14 million partnership from the ASPCA and Best Friends Animal Society, which will help expand foster care, adoption programs, and long-term shelter improvements across Los Angeles. Together, these investments help ensure animals in our care receive the support and compassion they deserve.

Julia is finally home with me, after 5 months with her foster mommy.

It's been quite the medical journey for her.... but Cyndy did a great job helping me to help heal her broken little body and spirit. 🫶💙🥹🐾👏

After her initial almost 2 weeks in the hospital to get all her diagnostics done, dealing with her kidney issues and those nasty polyps in her ears that we had to surgically remove. Then sometimes two visits a week back to see Dr Naito for rechecks... and addressing other issues with her cataracts and glaucoma, and monitoring her kidney values.

She's been through so many struggles... but she's showing us that her life mattered. I would do it all, all over again and then some (the thousands of dollars I spent to heal her body) ...to give her some quality of life knowing that she is honored and treasured.

It pretty much took her all of the afternoon and into early evening before she finally relaxed and settled in for the night. I'm hoping she will adjust to being back here with me so I can figure out what her next steps will be for the remainder of her golden years.

✅️⚜️✅️If anybody would like to make a donation towards her medication or food, or ongoing treatment she needs.... that would be so awesome. She's on a special kidney diet and takes daily pain meds and eye drops for her glaucoma. I'm spending close to $200+++ a month just for that alone.

Apparently Eva likes to play with toys...🤭😂🤣

Sweet granny Julia needs a ride home to me in San Pedro sometime this coming week. Her foster mommy will be traveling soon...

Can anyone bring her to me? She's currently in Costa Mesa and needs a ride to me in San Pedro.

Transport date and time are totally flexible...

For those who may not remember her, she was one of the grannies We rescued from North Central Shelter the week before Christmas 2025.

You'll need a medium size crate to transport.

⚠️LOCAL FOSTER NEEDED ASAP⚠️ Los Angeles or Orange County areas. He's with me in San Pedro.

Peanut

Rescued two months ago from Downey Shelter. I think he's finally filling out a bit and putting on some weight... he MAY be 3.8 lbs now. 🤭

He's still as sassy as ever. 🤪🫠

Will do best in a home where he's priority. He's not a fan of most other dogs, but will tolerate certain ones if they don't engage with him or get in his personal space. He's VERY FRAGILE so no young children or large or rambunctious dogs.

I could REALLY use a LOCAL FOSTER for him. He's not really happy having to be around all the other dogs here. He would probably do best with someone who works from home or is retired.

Applications to Foster can be found on my website at savingimperialschuver.org

Eva is home!!! She's being fostered by my friend Ester... the same person who reached out to me to save her.

In 10 days Eva will go back to see Dr Naito to have her sutures removed.

Until then she's in great hands and being loved and spoiled by Ester and her family.

Next steps will be to get her dental done, but for now she's on the road to recovery and healing nicely.
