THE BIG STICK DETACHMENT 1496 🇺🇸🦅🌎⚓

What an incredible night of camaraderie, laughter, and great memories!

We had an outstanding turnout for our Family Bowling Night, and everyone had a fantastic time!

Events like this are what the Marine Corps League is all about bringing Marines, veterans, and their families together, strengthening our bonds, building friendships, and continuing the brotherhood beyond our years of service.

It’s not just about meetings and missions. It’s about FAMILY, BROTHERHOOD, CAMARADERIE, AND TRADITION!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and made this evening such a success. We look forward to creating many more unforgettable moments together in the near future!

🇺🇸 THE BIG STICK DETACHMENT 1496 MEETING NIGHT! 🦅🌎⚓️

Another great Marine Corps League meeting tonight aboard the historic USS Iowa!

We were proud to swear in a new member and officially welcome another Marine into The Big Stick Detachment 1496 family. 🇺🇸

We also had the honor of receiving our National Convention Streamer, presented to us by the Junior Vice Commandant Department of California. Semper Fi!

Tonight was all about taking care of business. We gave our members a quick recap of what took place at the 2026 Marine Corps League National Convention, covered detachment business, and started preparing for our Family Bowling night, a chance to have some fun and show appreciation to our members and their families. 🎳

And let’s be clear… the USS Iowa is one beautiful battleship, but during this summer weather, she turns into an OVEN! 😂🔥⚓️

So tonight’s mission was simple:

GET IN. GET BUSINESS DONE. GET OUT! 😂

Mission accomplished. Great meeting, great Marines, and another productive night for The Big Stick Detachment 1496.

🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET 9/11 REMEMBRANCE 🇺🇸

Today, the Marine Corps League, The Big Stick Detachment 1496, had the distinct honor of part in the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony aboard the historic Battleship USS Iowa, including providing the Color Guard for the ceremony.

It was a true honor to stand at attention and present our colors as we remembered the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honored the brave first responders, military members, and everyday Americans who answered the call.

As Marines, veterans, and proud Americans, we will Never Forget.

We are always proud to serve this great country, our community, and those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

What a great banquet to close out the 2026 Marine Corps League National Convention in Indianapolis! 🇺🇸🦅

It was a great week of learning, fellowship, and making memories. I had the opportunity to meet some new friends from Vermont, reconnect with old friends, and share some great times with Marines and League members from across the country.

Now it’s time to say goodbye to Indianapolis. Thank you for the hospitality and the memories!

Next stop: Buffalo, New York! 🇺🇸🍻

Wrapping Up the 2026 Marine Corps League Convention 🇺🇸🇺🇸

What a great experience here in Indianapolis, Indiana! Today was the final day of the 2026 Marine Corps League National Convention, and we had the honor of installing our new officers.

We have the banquet later tonight, but this officially wraps up an incredible convention. It’s been a great opportunity to learn, connect with fellow Marines, and continue carrying on the traditions and values of the Marine Corps League.

Proud to represent The Big Stick Detachment and grateful for everyone who made this convention such a memorable experience.

Proud to be here representing The Big Stick Detachment 1496 as Commandant at the 2026 Marine Corps League National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Today, I’m putting on my listener’s cap and absorbing as much knowledge as possible. There’s always something new to learn, and opportunities like this allow us to learn from fellow Marines and leaders from across the country.

I’m here to gain knowledge, share ideas, bring those lessons home, and continue building a stronger Detachment and a stronger Marine Corps League.

🇺🇸 Another Great Meeting with The Big Stick Detachment, of the Marine Corps League aboard the historic USS Iowa! ⚓️🇺🇸

Senior Vice Commandant Rudy Duarte did a flawless job running the meeting, and we had the opportunity to recognize two of our valued donors, Rain for Rent and Envent, with awards for their continued support of our Detachment.

We also recognized several of our members with certificates. It’s always important to take the time to recognize the people who continue to support our Detachment and help keep the traditions of the Marine Corps alive. 🦅⚔️

🇺🇸🦅 Honoring an Eagle Scout & Giving Back to Our Community 🦅🇺🇸

Today, The Big Stick Detachment 1496, of The Marine Corps League, had the great honor of presenting awards to an outstanding Eagle Scout from Troop 613 in Long Beach.

The ceremony was held at Temple Beth Shalom in Long Beach, where we presented the Scout with the Good Citizenship Award, along with a Commandant’s Commendation from Marine Corps Commandant General Eric M. Smith.

We also had the privilege of presenting an American Spirit Award to the Scout’s parents in recognition of their support, dedication, and commitment throughout his journey to becoming an Eagle Scout.

Representing the Big Stick Detachment were Commandant Luis Gallegos and Senior Vice Commandant Rudy Duarte.

It is always a great honor to be invited to these special ceremonies and to have the opportunity to recognize our community’s outstanding young men and women. The Marine Corps League is proud to continue supporting our youth, honoring their accomplishments, and giving back to the community we proudly serve.
