Huichol Yarn paintings are an evolution of votive offerings left in sacred sites where our dieties live.

This yarn painting is one of my favorites as the origonal art by Cilau Valadez it depicts the deep commitment on our Pe**te. I love the detail of the nierikas (mandalas) portal of entry for the sacred representing the presence of God and goddesses.

Huichol yarn paintings are created by pressing colorful yarn into a wax-covered board, forming intricate designs that are deeply rooted in their cosmology, mythology, and spiritual practices. Each painting is a visual prayer and a window into the sacred world of the Huichol people of Mexico.

These ethnographic treasures are not merely works of art; they are visual narratives, rich in symbolism and tradition, making them ideal for home decor, altars, collectors, folk art, native art, cultural institutions, or museums. Each piece offers a unique window into the Wixárika (Huichol) worldview.

Your purchase directly supports the Wixarika Huichol Tribe via the vital programs, services provided by non-profit The Huichol Center for Cultural Survival and Traditional Arts a 2019 Nobel peace prize recognized non-profit dedicated to preserving Huichol culture through various initiatives for over four decades.

ENVIANDO ORACIONES Y SOLIDARIDAD A MiS HERMANOS INDIGENAS DE ECUADOR, PARTICULARMENTE AL PUEBLO INDÍGENA KICHWA DE OTAVALO, QUE ACTUALMENTE SE ENFRENTA A LA REPRESIÓN Y A LAS VIOLACIONES DE LOS DERECHOS HUMANOS DURANTE LAS PROTESTAS NACIONALES. NOS SOLIDARIZAMOS CON ELLOS EN SU LUCHA POR LA JUSTICIA Y POR SUS TIERRAS ANCESTRALES.

ENGLISH:
Sending prayers and solidarity to my Indigenous brothers and sister from Ecuador, particularly to the Kichwa people of Otavalo who are currently facing repression and human rights violations during the national protests. We stand with them in their fight for justice and their ancestral lands.

URGENT: The government is reportedly censoring news about the Otavalo people in Ecuador. Concerned for the safety and rights of my friends and the community. We need international media attention now!
