Homework Central San Mateo

Homework Central San Mateo Our partnership with families and the SMFCSD expands learning opportunities that are easily accessibl

Homework Central was a dream that emerged from an annual church meeting held in 1998. Three congregations in San Mateo committed themselves to reach out and assist neighborhood children who were struggling to succeed in elementary school. A program was envisioned that would engage retired persons and youth as volunteer tutors. They would provide on-going support to at-risk elementary school children in a loving and safe environment.

Ranking institutions that serve a public good is highly problematic. We do not rank police stations, fire stations, public libraries and/or park districts.

Amazing! After school support from the capital.

Last week it was announced that the Senate Budget Subcommittee on Education recommended a $100 million increase in Prop. 98 funding for ASES programs to increase the daily rate. This week, we're happy to report that the Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Education also recommended an $80.5 million increase in Prop. 64 funding for ASES! This is great news and we are grateful that both the Senate and the Assembly called for critical funding to keep ASES program doors open for the children, families, schools, and communities that rely on them.

But our work is not done! We now turn to the Budget Conference Committee, Assembly Leadership, Senate Leadership, and the Governor for a compromise solution to save afterschool. Contact the leaders of budget negotiations and encourage them be a champion for afterschool by texting "Leaders" to 52886 or visiting https://p2a.co/ItYFEYF
