AES presented our “How Did This Happen To Me?” program at Kennedy Middle School! We presented to 6 cohorts, reaching 190 students in total! 13 students took our spanish language curriculum thanks to AES staff member Maria! Students also heard from guest presenter Antony K, who shared his personal story. Thanks to all who participated, volunteered, and reviewed our newest program “Should Susan Drink?” Students worked in groups to provide feedback on our videos following the story of Susan, who participates in three tests to determine her personal risk for addiction. Students presented their findings to video developers including Dr. Marissa Silveri from Harvard’s medical school! Afterward, students developed connections over dinner- we welcomed 32 students from 5 Bay Area schools! The Multiple Driving Under the Influence Court (MDUI) in San Mateo County was awarded grant funds to continue operating through September of next year.

According to the San Mateo County Superior Court, the program will continue to fund probation officers, provide bilingual services, and monitor alcohol levels of program participants, in a press release dated October 28, 2025. The program partners with many other organizations in the community to provide treatment and services for participants.
