The last puppy waiting. A sweet girl who deserves her chance. 🐾

Some of you may remember the mama dog and several puppies who came into our care from the Brigantino Park area. Candace is the last of those puppies still waiting for her forever home.

This sweet German Shepherd mix is approximately 7 months old, weighs about 23 pounds, and is already spayed. She has been with us since April 15, 2026, spending much of her puppyhood waiting for someone to choose her.

Candace also has a medical need we want to be transparent about. She experiences head tremors and may have an underlying neurologic disorder, but she does not have a confirmed diagnosis. The diagnostic workup could cost upwards of $5,000, an expense our shelter simply cannot afford.

From what we have observed, her day-to-day activity is not disrupted, and she plays well with other dogs.

We are hoping to reach an adopter who can provide the veterinary follow-up she needs, or a rescue partner with the resources to help us get answers and find her a loving home.

There is still so much we don’t know about her condition. What we do know is that Candace is a very sweet puppy who deserves love, care, and a future beyond a shelter kennel. ❤️

If you may be able to help Candace, please contact Hollister Animal Shelter. Even if you cannot take her home, please share her story. One share could connect her with the person or rescue she needs.
