Thank you to Texas State University President Kelly Damphousse for visiting the RESA Summer River Education Station to see student-led river stewardship in action!

The Texas State River Education and Stewardship Alliance (RESA) is a student organization that brings together Bobcats committed to protecting the San Marcos River through education, outreach, and stewardship. With support from , the Office of Sustainability, Texas State University- Environmental Health, Safety & Risk Management, and faculty from TXST Geography & Environmental Studies, RESA launched the Summer River Education Station pilot to teach river users about responsible recreation and how to protect the river’s sensitive habitats and species.

We appreciate President Damphousse’s support for the students helping foster a culture of river stewardship at Texas State!

The San Marcos River inspires science, stewardship...and some pretty incredible student work! This week brought two firsts for the Texas State River Education and Stewardship Alliance (RESA), a student-centered initiative facilitated by in collaboration with programs across Texas State University.

Biology Ph.D. student Tiara Thompson, RESA’s Student Chair and Education & Outreach Director, received RESA’s inaugural Outstanding Leadership Award. 🏆

Dawson Fehr, a Wildlife Biology major and RESA Art Director, unveiled new original artwork featuring one of the river’s most iconic endangered species: Texas wild-rice. 🌱🎨

We love seeing Bobcats put their talents to work for the San Marcos River! 💙
