Aid for Baja California

Aid for Baja California Aid for Baja California (ABC) is a non-profit organization working to build a better future for the poorest children of Baja California, Mexico.

Since 1966, Aid For Baja California (ABC) has been changing lives in Mexico by delivering basic necessities to the western region’s poverty-stricken children and families. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, ABC raises money and distributes those funds to local charitable organizations. These organizations then provide basic goods and services to help Baja families survive and improve their co

mmunities. Founded by Catholic priest Father Henry, Aid for Baja California began as an informal gesture of friendship. In the 1960′s, Father Henry knew a poor Mexican family who had been evicted from their home in Tijuana. To help his comrades in need, he arranged lodging and food. Other people in the region learned of his generosity and ability to gather resources, so they went to him looking for the same help he offered his friends. Father Henry happily obliged, and then realized that poverty in Baja California was a pressing problem. He went on to form Aid for Baja California as a non-profit organization. Unfortunately, Father Henry died in 1977 in an auto accident while returning from La Paz, Baja California. He had gone to deliver lumber to repair damage caused by Hurricane Elisa. Today, Father Henry’s compassion for Baja lives on through ABC. ABC brings hope to the people of Baja California through two major programs. The result of our efforts is a healthy, positive outlook on life for Baja families and “graduates” of local orphanages. We Support Orphanages

ABC partners with orphanages in Baja California to help children who have been left without parents. ABC works with our supporters in “upper” California and other regions of the United States to raise money for the children, increase awareness, and ensure Baja orphans get what they need to grow up healthy, strong, and cared for. Currently, ABC is supporting Rancho Nazareth Orphanage in Tecate, and La Morita Mission in La Morita, Mexico. We provide clothing, furniture, utensils, building materials, and tools. We Award Scholarships

Every year, ABC receives scholarship requests from organizations in Baja California. We evaluate these requests and award financial scholarships to eligible students. Scholarships pay for tuition, allowing disadvantaged Baja youth to pursue education and improve their communities. We have specifically provided extensive support to the Colegio Jeanne Chezard, an elementary school in Tijuana, Baja California. ABC funds have provided classroom furniture, blackboards, paper, pencils, and other school supplies.
