🎭 Your voice matters—and California's arts community needs it today.

We're calling on state leaders to invest in the future of the arts by supporting:

✨ $50 Million for the California Arts Council
✨ $40 Million for the Performing Arts Equitable Payroll Fund (PAEPF)

What does that funding mean?

• Fair pay for artists, educators, and creative workers
• Greater access to arts funding for underserved communities
• Expanded opportunities through the California Cultural Districts program
• More arts education, performances, and creative experiences for communities across the state

For organizations like Luminary Arts, these investments help ensure that students can continue discovering confidence through theater, schools can access quality arts programming, and communities can gather through the shared experience of live performance.

The arts create connection, belonging, and opportunity. But lawmakers need to hear that these programs matter.

California has a $350 billion budget, yet only $24 million is allocated to arts grants statewide.

For organizations like Luminary Arts—and hundreds of arts programs serving students, families, artists, and communities across California—that gap has real consequences. Last year alone, communities submitted more than $90 million in eligible requests just to sustain cultural districts, arts education, and creative programming.

At the same time, the Performing Arts Equitable Payroll Fund (PAEPF), which proved essential during its first round of funding, remains without renewed support despite overwhelming need.

We cannot let this stand.

The arts are more than entertainment. They build confidence, foster creativity, strengthen communities, and provide life-changing opportunities for young people. Every production, every class, every student who discovers their voice through the arts is made possible by investments like these.

Join Luminary Arts in kicking off Week by raising your voice for California's creative future.

Some lawmakers are already championing these efforts, but the entire legislature needs to hear from all of us before the final budget is approved.

Together, we can help ensure that arts organizations, school programs, and community theaters continue to thrive for generations to come.

California is at a critical crossroads.

As our state celebrates unprecedented growth driven by the tech and AI boom, investment in the very things that make us human—arts, culture, creativity, storytelling, and connection—is being left behind.

For organizations like Luminary Arts, and countless arts programs serving children, families, and communities across San Diego County, state arts funding isn't just a line item—it's what makes transformative experiences possible. It's the reason students discover confidence on stage, schools can offer enriching arts education, and local artists can continue creating work that brings communities together.

That's why we're asking our Luminary family to take action.

📞 Contact your lawmakers and support:
• $50 million for the California Arts Council (CAC)
• $40 million for the Performing Arts Equitable Payroll Fund (PAEPF)

This isn't new funding. The California Arts Council's budget has remained at just $24 million since 2019, even as the state's budget has nearly doubled. California currently ranks 35th in the nation for arts funding—a surprising position for a state known worldwide for its creativity and innovation.

The arts are not a luxury. They are education. They are community. They are economic drivers. They are essential.

This week, we'll be sharing ways you can help advocate for the future of arts education and performing arts organizations throughout California. Join us, raise your voice, and help ensure the next generation has access to the creative opportunities they deserve.

Together, we can make a difference. 🎭✨
