Lots of changes happening in SMFD. Here is one of the big ones. Congratulations Chief Stephens on your upcoming retirement and congratulations Chief Henderson on stepping up to fill that role!

Around 2:15 a.m., the San Marcos Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire in the 1700 block of River Road.

One person was home when they woke to find a fire in the living room. They were able to safely escape. Crews quickly brought the fire under control.

The fire damaged the home, some nearby vehicles, and caused minor damage to a neighboring mobile home. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced residents.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
